I think that sounds a little like Carter's mom, LOL, at least in terms of her defensiveness of her son. The person doesn't appear to be directly involved in basketball, though, since the manner of speaking about trade details sounded fairly ignorant.

I know Iverson admires Carter's game, and I'm sure the feeling is mutual, but I've never heard of them being great friends. So I doubt he's the source.

I picked AI as I remember AI making a comment about wanting him on his team (when he was w/ the 76ers) in defense of allegations in the papers of him (Carter) tanking.
