After the Nets traded Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson, many speculated that Vince Carter didn't want to be with the team anymore, but he insists he's committed.

"When they said, 'You’re going to jump ship,' I don’t believe that," Carter said. "I’m here. It says New Jersey on my jersey, and I’m going to do my job."

Carter is leading this mostly young group in training camp. Devin Harris and Eduardo Najera are veterans too, but this is Carter’s team.

The playoffs aren't completely out of the question for this team, but they are in the process of rebuilding and Carter appears to be fine with that.

"I’m OK with that," Carter said. "I would love to win a championship. But to take a team that is considered rebuilding and become a playoff team, there’s a lot of satisfaction in that for me."

I'm glad he's here, personally. As long as Carter can still contribute 15-20 ppg on a good %, I wouldn't mind having him in the rebuilding process to be honest. It's not like we have any elite young shooting guards who he's taking minutes from. I won't hurt to have VC on the team, marketing wise, for the next 2 season and it won't hurt to have him on the team as a veteran desperate for a ring come 2010.
