Australia's Casey Stoner edged Honda teammate Marco Simoncelli to qualify on the pole for Sunday's British MotoGP at Silverstone.
Stoner, who is second in the world championship standings behind Jorge Lorenzo of Spain, posted a time of 2 minutes, 2.020 seconds Saturday to claim his fourth pole of the season.
Lorenzo, riding a Yamaha, was third and Ben Spies of the United States was fourth.
