Catching Up With Terrell Brandon (Chris Haynes)

Since I'm new to the Portland area, I was in desperate need of a haircut. I tried a place a couple weeks ago and they charged me 20 bucks, so I wasn't doing that again. So my wife starts reading off local barbershops in the area from the yellow pages and gets to "Terrell Brandon's Barbershop." I thought, is this the Terrell Brandon that played for the Cleveland Cavaliers back in the day? I did my research and found out Brandon was born and raised in Portland, and it was indeed, his barbershop.

Plus, I found out that they only charged 14 bucks for a haircut, which really turned the corner for me. The Terrell Brandon Barbershop and Apparel sits on the corner of Alberta and NE 14th Ave. Funny barbers, sports memorabilia, and a owner who is down to earth, makes this place a must see.

I get there and Brandon is greeting everyone as if he knows everybody. He came up to me and gave me the "man hug" out of nowhere. That made it pretty easy for me to ask for some of his time for a Q&A. He graciously accepted and the rest was history...........................

My favorite story about Brandon was when that dude tried to extort money from him and put money on his porch. When the dude came, Brandon and his buddy confronted him.

The same thing I would have done.
