I have a new resident today.

Her name is Josie. She's old and blind and appears to be arthritic. This is probably a hospice situation.

She was found abandoned about a decade ago along the road. The man who found her had dementia and had to be moved to a nursing home. His son and eventual daughter-in-law have known me for a long time. They didn't think they could give her a decent quality of life because of her disabilities and she's been declawed and they have other cats. I tried to find a home for her where she'd be the only cat, and thought I had the ideal people, but they backed out.

Josie's met most of the other residents and things went well. The kitten and young male like being around her. Crista checked her out and didn't act like she thought Josie was a threat. Josie's explored the living room and eaten from the community food dish instead of her own. Now she's sleeping by the television.

She's a cuddler and a purrer and I think I've found the pets she likes. Hopefully, we'll give her a decent life for as long as she hangs on.

Lashanna and I thank you for giving Josie a home and making her final days happy and safe.

I have no idea what Lashanna was playing with. I found it on the floor in the library. It wasn't a dead leaf. It wasn't moving. Picked it up with a tissue and threw it away.
