It’s probably too early to now until the Dame trade is complete, but what do the Blazers do to staff the Center position.

assuming the Blazers trade doesn’t bring back a significant center, and assuming the Blazers use the Dame trade to move Nurk, who is left to sign or trade for at center?

Sounds like Edy Tavares is likely headed back to Real Madrid on an extension.

How funny would it be if Ben Simmons was our center?

Too many unknowns until the Dame trade is done.

Maybe Nurk goes out in the deal?
Maybe Nurk stays?
Maybe one of Claxton, Ayton, KAT, Jared Allen, etc is acquired?
Maybe LaVine is acquired and we have 5 guards?

Allen instead could make sense as a trade for Grant during the season.

I'm a fan of getting Simmons in a Dame trade, especially if taking on his salary gets us additional pick(s). Strangely feel like there's upside he regains some form, and would fit well with Scoot/Sharpe. Might be able to flip him again for picks if he regains. If he busts doesn't hurt us much as we are fine losing, and next year he's an expiring contract.

If LaVine came them Simons would be traded and maybe it also means that Sharpe isn’t quite ready to start?

They might buyout that 6'10 MVP center in Europe..forgot his name..Donte something? I think he plays in Real Madrid or one of the Spanish teams. It's a 6 million buyout I read.

donta hall is returning to his club. tavares is working on a potential extension.

that ogre is so slow, the Blazers would run 4 on 5 offense and tell him to stay behind and guard the basket.

I was hoping Cronin would hire Thomas Bryant, but Miami picked him up for Dame's (soon to be) new team.

Eubanks was probably getting G-league flashbacks with Cronin & Billups young & tiny 3-4 guard lineups.

going dark horse here - maybe Drew saw Billups having fun while throwing games on purpose in the tail end of the season, and questioned the ethical composition of this franchise?

Who cares about Drew Eubanks right? He was just a crummy backup Center. Well.. last I looked the Blazers don't even have a crummy backup Center.

I think there's some kind of Australian regiment in partial control of the Blazers. If we sign Patty Mills and get Simmons in the Lillard trade, they'll start selling kangaroo shaped pretzels at the Moda Center.

Char has 4 C's, Mark Williams likely the main guy and not to be traded. But after that they have a young/raw Kai Jones, then Nic Richards a guy at 25 who played well last yr , then they drafted Nnagi. Too many young guys and not much minutes. Would try to trade with them

Sounds like they are leaving Nnaji overseas.

These young centers aren't very good right now. Very stiff. Nurk looks like a Giannis type talent compared to these lugnuts. Christian Wood is a talented center who was under utilized in Dallas. I've heard all the ,"he doesn't play defense stuff". But he is a very good offensive player, especially when he gets 30 or more minutes. Kidd fell in love with using the very overrated Dwight Powell, and Maxi Kleber. Neither is anything other than a backup. The only problem i see is Joe Cronin's allergy to signing UFA's.

Ben Simmons is actually a very good finisher at the rim. He could play a Draymond Green role, and his lack of long range shooting would be hidden.

Another irony about Ben, I saw a highlight video that showed every 3 he ever took his in his career, almost all of the misses were last second half court heaves. He only took a few set open 3pt shots and made most of them.

Eubanks is a great 3rd string center. He's not good if he's your main backup, especially with a lower minute often injured starter like Nurk.

Ben Simmons is big enough to play center (9' standing reach, 240 lbs) But the problem is that on defense you want him guarding the other team's best player......and that usually is not a center. So you still need someone under the basket to protect the rim. Although playing him at center would work well in certain situations.

But think how good it will be to have him in the switch defense on the pick and roll

I’m guessing, based on the shitty options that the Blazers roll one more year with Nurk. By then, the Blazers will know much more about what kind of center they need next to scoot and Sharp. Additionally, Nurks contract will be more valuable a year out.

Besides, the blazer sound good enough to try to put together a perfect team, yet, one more lottery selection wouldn’t be terrible.

Unless the new era explodes out of the gate (doubt it), the blazers will do their damn best to move contracts from the failed dame era for picks and young guys, so I suspect that as soon as they can unload nurk, they will

Giving value to get rid of our starting center would be one of the worst ideas possible.

Nurk makes less than many starting centers and he has three years left on his deal... which is not too long, but also short enough that it would be smarter to just wait it out than to give up value to get rid of it.

I don't understand the view that the Blazers must (or even want to) get rid of the dude when they just re-signed him last year and then gave Grant, who's older and at least as injury-prone, more than 50% more annually that lasts two years longer.
