...Cespedes is a FA in 2 months anyway...DD is just trying to get as much value now as he can...I don't blame him.
 
Certainly a smart move for a player that's going to be a free agent. Get what you can.
 
And I noticed the doosh Dombrowski traded Price to one of the Yanks' closest competitors.
Must still be annoyed with Cashman for dropping a BP pitcher in his lap.

Basic elementary GM stuff.
Dombrowski looks like a GM trying to cover his ass by changing the narrative to "reboot" as he sees the door closing fast on his latest attempts to help the Tigers win their first WS since he took over in 2002(?).

The reason Cashman doesn't do things like that is because too many players have NTC's

And that's his own damn fault

I live in St Petersburg, lots of Rays propaganda here, and I can tell you that I've heard Price in more than one interview say he would not go to the Yankees because of the teams facial hair policies. I don't know what kind if any no trade clauses Price may have had but I'd say Dombrowski got what he could get plus traded Price out of his division. Will Price be a free agent, I don't know. Another thing for certain is that Dombrowski fleeced Cashman enough to win three playoff series against the Yankees and I'd say he'll be aiming to get on track in 16. Tough pill to swallow but Yankee Fans had too. Not only that Dombrowski is a sharp dresser, carries himself well.

I hear ya.....I've heard about Price not wanting to play for the Yankees because of the facial hair.
Regarding Dombrowski's Tigers beating and "fleecing" Cashman's Yanks in three playoff series- 2006, 2011, 2012.....no doubt about it, those Tiger teams had the Yanks' number and beat them fair and square.

But of course, like a good observant Yankee fan- if I were speaking to a Tiger fan or Mr. Dombrowski I will add:
That was then, this is now - and in each one those years Cashman's Yanks had the best record in the league while the Tigers were a WC one year, won their division with 88 wins in another year which would've been good enough for 4th place in the A.L. East, and last but not least, BOTH teams ended up falling short of winning the World Series, and Dombrowski's Tigers have yet to win a WS.

As for him being a sharp dresser.....okay, fine and dandy-
But I'm afraid it doesn't count in the W-L record.
 
Just wondering- speaking of the Mets acquiring Cespedes.....maybe him along with them picking up Uribe will help the famous batting coach Kevin Long improve the Mets' current offensive production:
Last in Runs, last in BA, last in OPS, 14th in OBP, 14th in SLG%.
Those numbers look kinda familiar.

Maybe Cashman is from the school of, "Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make". We shall see.

I was starting to think that...

That and for years, the Yankees had given up anything that was asked of us to a team that had something we wanted and the farm was stripped... Maybe this was part of the strategy to prevent that attitude from continuing in the future... having us be a trade partner like any other team, not expecting more of us because of who we are... we'll see...

I think we may have already seen- Yanks have quietly morphed into a position where they aren't afraid to say NO to other teams in trade talks, and some recent big free agents. They seem to pick and choose more on THEIR terms and are less vulnerable to the pressure of having to do something.

The Yanks haven't budged and have refused to trade any of their top prospects including Jagielo and Mateo- for the second straight season.
They probably may have been willing to deal Sanchez and one or two "other" minor leaguers as the Yanks seem to be set at the C position with McCann and Murphy but Sanchez is still generally regarded as a "good hitting" prospect and perhaps the Yanks may consider trying to convert him to another position.

Nice to know Sanchez is still with the organization but ALL "prospects" in ALL organizations mostly don't make it with the big club - often they either don't pan out or show acceptable progress, or there isn't room for ALL of them with the big club.
(As we all know)

Severino and Mitchell have also been "protected" and Severino is now a member of the team and the Yanks have carefully managed him (innings) in the minors so he CAN be ready for the "2nd half" and because of that, from what I've heard, Girardi/Cashman say he is here to stay the rest of the way (as long as he doesn't flop).
