Chad Buchanan is a Candidate Again......

Isn't it considered a courtesy to at least interview the interim person, unless he/she has made it clear he/she does not want the job indefinitely?

Why?

His record is awful....

When you do a bad job, you don't really deserve the courtesy of an interview...all you do is waste thier time and more importantly YOUR time....

[[EDIT]] It appears that article is just rehashing what was already out there....Miller says he is a candidate, but they are in full "Let's go hire another guy" mode

One source says the Blazers are having their candidates take a written psychological test to establish leadership qualities.

lol

Maybe Miller, Kolde and Allen should take that test....

Or maybe after a few interviews they are starting to realize they may already have the best guy for the job.

Love for you to explain how he is the best for the job....His record is awful.....

You must be related to him....

Do we know for sure that the past picks were really Chad's? If he gets hired, I wonder if maybe he had wanted Farried, etc., but got overruled.

I think he did a great job at the trade deadline.

In reality, while the trade deadline was anything but bad, we netted a 2nd rounder for Camby and a first rounder (potential Lottery pick) for Wallace and an additional 3 million on our cap. It was a solid job, but great?

If he got overruled then he is not the right guy. He was acting GM for crying out loud. It's about leadership. The management team is even having candidates take a leadership test during interviews. You can't have the acting GM getting overruled, unless it's by the owner with no other input swaying the owner. The GM has to make the call

OUTSTANDING point!

That was before no one else wanted the job

Buchanan is a proven Yes Man. Unless somebody else comes in and sucks up to Bert Kolde to an even greater level, Chad B. just may be the best option to continue the Clown Town atmosphere.

Anybody who shows too much leadership on the test is already ruled out before getting an interview. :devilwink:

Oh, he is absolutely the best option for that

He has been head scout for quite awhile now and POR has not gotten a significant contributor since 2008 (Batum)....

His track record sucks...and if he is letting Allen\Kolde make the picks while he has other guys rated higher then why even have a scout? a GM?

One good trade (NJ) with a team that was going to deal that pick regardless...they just happened to prefer Wallace over another player...does not suddenly make him a genius or erase all of the other horrible moves\draft evaluations that he has done....

Camby for 2 busts who likely won't be on the team next year and a 2nd round pick is pretty much worthless....He should have asked for Jordan Hill....

When you are making $200k (total guess as to what Chad makes), and are on the cusp of potentially at least doubling that if you can get along with Paul and Larry, then you make your suggestions, but then you become a team player. Chad has not yet been in a position to demand anything. If he gets a shot at being a real GM with a contract, then maybe he can step out more boldly. Until that point strong leadership and taking a stand will only get him unemployed.

We know that Armon was a PA pick, I don't know about Luke B. or N. Smith.

OMG, this is awesome

blazersedge Ben Golliver
Blazers Acting GM Chad Buchanan received 0 votes for Exec. of the Year despite broadcaster's public ballot indicating 2nd place vote for him

Hahaha. I remember that game. His own announcing homers didn't even vote for him

I like Chad and think he has been as active as any GM in recent history. Some moves were good, some moves were bad, but he hasn't had his feet in the quicksand afraid to make a move. If the GM is the one who gets credit for the moves, just this trade deadline he got rid of two popular players and a highly reputable coach. He isn't afraid to pull the trigger to try and make this team better.

Having said that, if Blazers could bring in someone who might get more respect around the league, it's time for Chad to step aside.

in other news, Kaleb is a candidate for coach too!

yippy!

yes. And I think that is all this is. Based on what Freeman said last week, it almost sounds like Buchanon doesn't want the job.

Rhetorical questions: Why is it taking so long? Why would they wait until after the draft to hire a GM?

I submit that the ONLY logical reason is that they are eyeing a GM whose team is still in the playoffs. That is the only thing that makes sense.

Now, whom might that be...?

That is a logical reason ... but it's definitely not the ONLY logically driven hypothesis.

The longer they wait they likely will miss out on some of their candidates (per Quick)

It's only been 12 freaking months since Cho was fired. That's just embarrassing.

Morway and Bower could remove themselves much in the way Dennis Lindsay did last year. I don't know if they were that impressed with what they interviewed you would think they would just pull the trigger on a hire. All this waiting sends the wrong message to candidates

Who's Dennis Lindsay?
