...that's the best we can do?...oh well, I guess K Johnson is finally gone?

I really don't think Solarte was that great. He had a good first month or so them came crashing down to earth. Headley has hit much better in July. Trust in me 59 I think this will be a good move and just the start.

Just saw it flashed on the MLB Breaking News ticker. Better Headly at 3rd than Kelly Johnson who should be on the next train they can get him on. I liked Solarte, really did, wish him well over in "Dago"

...my point was that he really doesn't appear to be much better than Solarte, if at all. Yes he finally had a decent month average-wise but he's striking out too often and not hitting HRs...plus, if memory serves, we'd better hope his back holds up.
...Solarte finally turned back into a pumpkin but he was under team control and he busts his ass on every play and can play multiple positions. I hope you're right Jill, I really do. But I don't see this as a move that will really help this team...and there had better be more moves to come.

...like I said, Chase Utley I would have been happy with...Chase Headley, meh.

Worth a roll of the dice if Headley can stay hot. Solarte fell off a cliff and De Paula is complete garbage. Still need another move to really help this offense.

Pick one:

Player A; .229 .296 .355 .651

Player B; .223 .309 .381 .690

According to De Rosa this is an upgrade, maybe Headly can go to Seven/Eleven and buy lightning in a bottle. Per De-Rosa that "short porch" will help him out but it hasn't done much for Ellsbury who's a much better player. I was really happy for Solarte when he beat out Nunez for a spot. This could evolve to be another thrust in reverse for Cashman. These truly aren't my fathers or my New York Yankees!

... Chase Headley hard-hit ball rates the last 3 seasons

2012- 24.5%
2013- 15.5%
2014- 13.2%

Headley with a walk off tonight. Real Yankee moment #1

I will miss Solarte, the kid was awesome in April

...happy for Headley, happy for the Yanx.

...now, shut down Beltran, fix his elbow, and replace him, ....and replace Johnson and Roberts.

Headley would lose his way in a 7/11 and would wind up buying a bottle of "Thunderbird" thinking he was getting that lightning in a bottle. I'm sure Headley would think MD20/20 was to improve eyesight too....!

Cashman and The Kidz, sure aren't my Daddy either....nor Pedro's, but King George sure was....!

I've been saying this since the issue came up. And yes we need a definite up grade over Johnson & Roberts.

59, I am right there with you. If Beltran is hurting and can't hit then he is useless and should just have surgery and we can trade for a DH and yes replace Roberts keep Johnson on the bench and we need a new RF with power and Ichiro can go back to being a 4th outfielder nothing more.

Jill for the most part I agree but if I'm keeping either one of the two (Johnson / Roberts) I think I'd rather keep Roberts. JMO.

I do agree Rick I was only thinking about versatility. Johnson can play 1st, 3rd and outfield while Roberts is strictly a 2nd baseman. Just a question if yankees call up a pitcher for tonight's game who gets sent down?

Solarte now batting leadoff for Padres....batting .270 in the NL thus far.

...meh.

Solarte with Padres .270 .354 .362 .716

Headley with Yanx . .256 .356 .372 .728

And if I can expand on this,

Solarte with Padres = 3 HRs & 15 RBI

Headley with Yanks = 3 HRs & 11 RBI

All in all at this point its pretty even.

Update;

...how quickly things can change.

Solarte with Padres .255 .337 .342 .679

Headley with Yanx . .257 .353 .390 .742

...and I gotta say, I've been impressed with Headley's defense. (yeah, I know he made an error last night)

Game propaganda gave no credit to Pineda who pitched a damn good game with the offense coming up sucking again.

...^^^ Yup, too much focus was made on Headley's error. And I'm sure that if we had been told that the Yanx would hold KC to 1 run (earned or not) we would have liked our chances in last night's game...kinda hard to win any game when the offense only manages 3 hits and 0 runs.
...really felt bad for Pineda.

Unfortunately we've seen many good pitching performances go to waste. Pineda pitched another excellent game (ERA down under 2) with nothing to show for it.
