I'm looking at the schedule and we have a chance over this next week to get into the race. It's doable. The Lakers next play the Magic, Grizzlies, Hornets, and Celtics. All 4 of those games are losable and would drop them to a 21-8 record. If we can win our three games against Denver and Dallas, which is absolutely doable, our record would rise to 20-10. That would put us 1.5 games behind the Lakers with three more head to head matches left during the season. Then, when you consider our schedule gets easier as the season goes on, we actually have a shot of catching them and passing them. Of course, we would have to hold off the Rockets and Hornets, but we've beaten both of them so we definitely have a chance.

Believe Harder.

eh ... It's a nice dream, but this team doesn't play good enough D to take and hold the number one seed this year.

Yeah... the Lakers are still the class of the West. I'd rather focus on the NW Division title, and with Denver losing tonight, they could lose again tomorrow in Phoenix.
If they do, we head into our back to back with the Thuggets tied at 17-10. I can't wait for Monday and Tuesday. Those games are HUGE

I agree with the others that the focus should be winning the NW Division. I think the Jazz will be our main competition though.

Winning the NW Division Title starts in Denver, we have them in a back2back don't we? If we could take both of those games it would really help the cause for winning the NW title. I think that it is going to be a dog fight between Portland, Denver, & Utah, but I like our chances.

Give it a rest guys. We have yet to prove we can even beat Utah or Denver. Right now, we are closer to 3rd in our division/fighting for the 8th seed, than we are to chasing the #1 seed.

We won't catch up to the Lakers this year, but I still feel like we have a shot at winning our division.

Hey all, isn't it fun to check the standing after every game again? I'm actually interested in how our division rivals do after every game... it's been a while since I've wanted to do that. This feels good!

Why do people think Denver is better than us? They barely have a better record and they've played a much easier schedule. Oh, and we beat Denver twice last year, including a game IN Denver.

Not saying we're getting the No. 1 seed, but nice to see the Lakers lose again tonight. Odom looks terrible for them, Bynum doesn't even play for them in the fourth and the Magic are a pretty good team.

We beat Orlando in Orlando. We beat Miami in Miami. The Lakers are done. We will catch them.

I don't know if the Lakers are "done" but they are definitely falling apart. There is too much drama on that team, every year you hear about something. Yes it happens in basketball, but there are plenty of quality teams who don't have this kind of drama, and when they do, they resolve it. Just because the Lakers are in Hollywood they and their fans turn everything into a soap opera.

Beating them last year is nothing like beating them this year. Camby is very overrated and AI sucks. Chauncey has made them a MUCH MUCH better team

So what. The last couple of games were very hard - the Cavs are an elite team this year and we had no better luck against PHX in the desert...

This is going to be a hard couple of games. I expect us to split - but hope for better, but - it is not going to be easy.

A team that has lost 3 games in a row.

So what, the Lakers have lost 2 in a row, and I can still say they are the best team in the western conference.

I seem to remember us losing 3 in a row only 10 days ago too

Nuggs were 16-11 last year so how is Billups making them MUCH better, let alone MUCH MUCH better? Also- Camby is not overrated. He was Defensive Player of the Year in 07 and All Defensive First Team in 08 and deservedly so.

But that's kind of the point. The Nuggs are no better than us. We lose three in a row but so do they.

As for the Lakers, they will fall apart as the season goes on. They played 11 of their first 15 games at the Staples Center. Now that they're leaving their nest, they're falling apart.

Camby is a horrible man defender, he is only a good weakside defender. He is overrated.

Look at the nuggets this year, Billups is a much better player than Iverson at this point in there careers. He isn't selfish, the main reason why the Nuggets are struggling has to do more with Anthony sucking so far.

Anthony sucking? He scored an NBA record 33 points in a quarter. It's the only NBA record that has been set or matched this season.

Denver's a good team, they're 16-7 since Billups arrived and they beat Boston in Boston, which is quite an accomplishment.

They're not a title contender by any means, but we're not a clear-cut better team than them right now.

The Nuggest weakness is their bench, we definitely have them beat there. But there starting lineup is better than ours. LMA will get thrown around by the physical Kenyon Martin, Billups will make Blake his bitch, and I don't have faith that Batum can guard Melo yet.

That's one game your talking about. this is one of the worst starts of his career

Agreed... their strengths are where we're most weak. They have a strong PG, we have inconsistent PGs. They have one of the best SFs in the game, we're still looking for our SF.
They're physical inside, and we're really not that physical.

But we do have our advantage with Roy over Dahntay Jones, and our depth is certainly better. It's an interesting matchup, but one that scares me a lot.

I like the advantage of Roy over Jones too. They do have JR Smith off the bench though and he can heat up quickly. I figure Nene and Oden to be a wash too, depends on how the refs call it because neither guy gets much respect from the refs.

Greg really needs to play well and stay out of foul trouble. And JR Smith can put up 20 in a quarter. Hopefully Rudy can negate him. But Denver still plays no defense.

And I don't know how much longer we can rely on Brandon putting up 30, 40, 50 points a game to save us. We need our depth to shine.
