Don't tell ME I don't care about no kids!!!!

We'll make the kids walk on the side of the road in a safe tunnel. That way the fat bastards will drop a few lbs...win win

I know kids who'd egg your door for making them actually walk someplace.

How about just cars that hold over six people unless you are a specially trained professional driver with a chauffer's license. This pretty much limits excess to buses and bus drivers.
safest rule would be make everyone just stay home except for delivery drivers...I'd buy a lot of stock in Pizza franchises then

And then something horrible like that junior hockey team accident.

For real though, I feel like we don't regulate truck drivers enough. I see some really shitty truck drivers on the road, and those things are massive killing machines.

They didn't use to be that way. They were without a doubt the best, most courteous drivers on the road. Then deregulation hit and things went to pot.

Might as well invest in places that sell weed, then. You know, munchies?

If we made them out of balsa wood and styrofoam, and removed the engine, they'd be much safer than that. How many soap box derby deaths are there? Very few!

Now this is a Jack Handy thought if there ever was one. Well done.

Still haven't found yhe other three kids? Wouldn't they have washed up yet? Jesus poor kids.

Looks like one of the missing kids washed up and was found by tourists.

My house is in the hills. They'll have to walk up

You must have been a Boy Scout to have prepared for all eventualities.

Peter Blythe, the local attorney, was my scout master. Out meetings were at my church, Christ Episcopal. And here I thought I was well prepared.

One of the Hart family mothers was drunk when she drove off a Northern California cliff late last month, killing herself and several members of her family, according to the Associated Press.

Authorities have said Jennifer Hart intentionally drove off the cliff. Jennifer Hart, her spouse Sarah and three of their adopted children died in the crash. Three other children are missing. An unidentified body was found Saturday near the crash site.

A California Highway Patrol captain told the Associated Press that toxicology tests found Jennifer Hart had an alcohol level of .102.

The captain said toxicology tests found Sarah Hart and two of their kids had "a significant amount" of an ingredient commonly found in Benadryl, which can make people sleepy, according to the news organization.

The California Highway Patrol, reached Friday afternoon by The Oregonian/OregonLive, couldn't confirm the Associated Press report.

It appears that these women should have never been allowed to adopt these kids. I think they were given a pass because they are same sex parents and lots of red flags were overlooked, in an effort to promote equality or the ability of same sex parents. This makes me sad on many levels.

When I saw they were a same sex couple at the beginning of this story I was like "shit, now a bunch of conservative jackoffs are going to say this is why gay couples are EEEEEVILLLLLEEEEE and shouldn't ever adopt."

Obviously, you're not a jackoff, but there are complete mouthbreathing shitheads out there spouting this shit off too, and that makes me sad.

I don’t consider myself to be homophobic (or misogynistic for that matter). I have same sex parents within my own family and consider them to be wonderful parents. But when details of this tragedy started emerging I had exactly the very same thoughts as @donkiez and I think he expressed himself extremely well. If you think he (and I) are mouth breathers, then that’s on you. Sometimes as a society we DO go overboard in an effort to be “fair”. And I feel that is very valid in this case. Please don’t shoot the messenger.

I think it's two completely different opinions.

One is that they shouldn't have been allowed to adopt BECAUSE they're lesbians.

The other, which is what I think Donkiez was trying to say, is that they should never have been allowed to adopt because of the kind of people that they were, and the only reason why they were was because they're lesbians and it looked good on paper.

So one side is using it as justification that same sex couples shouldn't be allowed to adopt at all, which is bullshit, whereas the other opinion might be in line with taking a closer look at equity and diversity, because while it's great that the state was allowing same sex parents to adopt, they shouldn't be overlooking red flags simply because they really really really want a same sex couple to get the kids.

It's the same argument that we hear with affirmative action. The black guy or the woman should get the job because they were the best candidate, not because they were the only black guy or woman.

I didn't take it as an insulted directed at me or you. I think they meant the homophobic right will use this as an outlier example to trumpet as a reason why they told us that same sex people shouldn't be parents.

I do mouthbreath however. and I can be kind of a shithead.

I think about this differently. I firmly believe that Texas will adopt all the black children from drug abusing parents to any lesbian couple that wants them.

Now healthy white children... Texas saves those for the good christian male and female white couples.
