YUP, and then when their bubble bursts USA will be the next domino.

Well, they do have three times our population and are at the beginning stages of capitalism. A growth phase.

But their unchecked growth, sans regulations, is leading to corrosion from within, incredible pollution problems, corruption, and social unrest. It seems unsustainable.

Aside - isn't this what you Republicans want - capitalism without regulation? How does it seem to be working in China? Not that well it seems.

Seems like it is working great. They went from a 3rd world nation to biggest economic power, with no debt, in short order.

That's because they aren't Americans, who are inherently better than every other nationality.

Capitalism can succeed anywhere, but I agree that China is too socialist and corrupt (the natural pillar of progressive politics) to not self destruct.

I suppose you think that Mao had nothing to do with organizing the country out of its colonial morass, its first attempt at capitalism, making its second attempt a cinch.

A heavily-entrenched, corrupt, and tyrannical government, and not giving a shit about human life, human rights, or the environment kinda helped...

you describe most nations, including us.

Left wing programs like Mao's only starve or otherwise harm the population.

Capitalism is succeeding there now only because Mao got the country organized. If that's not true, then why didn't capitalism succeed before Mao, under Sun Yat Sen and Chiang Kai Shek?

Capitalism thrived in Taiwan. Mainland China never was capitalist.

You figure it out.

You say that Sun and Chiang failed to make the country capitalist. Why did it require Mao? Republicans and Libertarians should adore Mao as their greatest hero.

Mao is long dead, murdered tens of millions, and was a miserable socialist/marxist failure. China's GDP took off after Mao died and his policies thrown in the trash.

The only thing not liberal (libertarian) about China is its politics.

Okay, good. So I win. I always win.

And if I don't, I change what we're arguing about so that I win. PapaG and Boob use the same method.

When it comes to crony capitalism, we just can't compete with the Chinese. But, boy oh boy are we trying.

Americans are good at regulating against innovation and are even better at collecting 99 weeks of unemployment.

well some innovation is stupid, like solar

if god wanted us to use solar he would have buried the sun in the ground

Fracking. They knew how to do it in the 70s, maybe earlier. It wasn't cost effective, like... Solar. Now it is and we are becoming energy independent.

http://www.instituteforenergyresearch.org/energy-overview/solar/

Today, solar energy provides two-tenths of 1 percent of the total energy consumed in the United States. While the amount of solar electricity capacity in the US has increased in recent years—rising from 334,244 kilowatts in 1997 to 1,488,500 kilowatts in 2011 , it still only accounts for 0.1% of net electricity generated in the United States – the least among the renewable sources of hydroelectric, biomass, wind and solar.

exactly, burning fossil fuels is the next big thing

Solar isn't a big thing at all. Huge investments already. Subsidies.

A nuclear power plant costs $4B. California spent more than that in subsidies for solar last year. For less power.

yes denny, steam power is the way of the future, real cutting edge stuff

and not a fan of subsidies i take it? me neither.
