Perkins will be playing a role he's never played before. He's going to be asked to carry much more of the load than he did in Boston.

Absolutely agree. If you're watching ESPN, the Perkins deal is the only trade being talked about, yet Portland basically got Wallace, a more healthy Roy, and Camby back at the deadline.

I fully expect the Blazers to make a lot of noise for the rest of the season, and they just became a very difficult and diverse team to match up with in the playoffs.

With you on that.

Cho joined the exclusive group.

Haha! I almost used that avatar, but I really like this trade, so I'm giving Cho the spotlight. Without Cunningham, though, this trade may not have happened, so props to KP for that 2nd round pick that ended up having trade value.

I'm so glad I'm playing the restraint game these days. It makes things much more enjoyable.

Heh. I wasn't thinking of you when I posted that, PapaG. Probably shouldn't have posted it at all, but the incessant caterwauling overwhelmed my good judgment.

True that. If we'd have picked Blair no one would've taken him for Crash. :)

Slightly kidding. Even at the time I said that either JP or Dante with Blair would've been fine, but both over him (and Jerebko) seemed ludicrous.

Good luck in CHA, Dante!

I'm waiting for some of the Cho-bashers from this morning to post a mea-culpa. Something along the lines of, "All hail the mighty Cho. Forgive me for doubting you. Oh, what a dumb ass am I."

OK, I'll say it: I was wrong. It seems Cho does have the clout to make deals.....and I believe this was a good one.

Whether it was always his call, or he had to sell it to PA/Vulcans - he got the job done.

Oh, I know. Old age is teaching me to just enjoy the team. Also, if I'm critical, I'm also going to point out positives. The li'l bugger Miller has really grown on me. I didn't even get too pissed last night when LMA went 6 straight possessions in the 4th quarter without touching the ball.

Sorry, I say "Late Model Sonics" to mean Thunder. Each of the last 3 summers and 2 of the last 3 trade deadlines they've inserted themselves into deals to get future accomodations...cash, draft picks, an upcoming expiring, etc.

Yeah, Pritchard, with his buddy Tom Penn the CAP GENIUS, was generally doing that, too. I wouldn't then say that Pritchard trading two picks to pick up an asset like Gerald Wallace would have been "opposite" of his philosophy. Pritchard and Presti were opportunistic...that's what I'd say their "philosophy" was. If there was a chance to pick up an additional pick or exception or whatever, they'd do it. I'm sure Cho feels the same way. Why not pick up an asset whenever you can? Using those assets in trade, though, doesn't run counter to that principle.
