Nurk only gets 2 shots in the 4th quarter tonight against Denver.
He went 2-2 in 8 minutes.
Nurk went 9-15 in the game.

One of these 3 needed to step up.
Get together and say.
Nurk is going, find the hot hand.

Accountability.

It needs to be Stotts. We settle too much for jumpers.

I don't care who it is.
These are the three leaders of the team.
Your 23 year old Center is dominating in the paint.
Get the man the ball and play off him.
Even more so, Nurk looked like the most physical player on the court, in a physical game.
Get Nurk the ball.

I know ... gras is not always green on the other side, but when I see our team, I can tell ... our coaching doesn't do this team good.
I have been on the fire Stotts bandwagon for some time.
We have too much talent to be this mediocre ...
Yea 3 seed my behind. I will be shocked if we get out of the first round.
We lost to Dallas and Memphis ... let that sink in.
We have guys shooting the team out of games in 2 quarters ...
Stotts has not been able to get anything meaningful out of Turner. And we are paying him tons of money.

Remember how well Nurk passed out of the post last season? Before he was taught the Tater Totts brand of basketball that results in turnovers?

mmmm, disagree.

We all saw how god awful Nurk was in the post to start the year.
Stotts went away from just throwing the ball inside to Nurk, and letting Nurk go to work because it wasn't working.

Tonight, would it have worked? IDK.
I just wanted Nurk to continue to get the ball at the ft line or side P&R.

Nurk DIDN'T pass well out of the post last season?

The problem with pick n rolls was they were collapsing hard because we couldn't hit a shot. That's fixed by players cutting/diving to the rim but instead they stay on the arc because they have a tendency to settle. That's on Stotts too in my opinion.

They weren't going all the way to the paint.
Jokic was just playing center field on Aminu p&r.

#blazersaccountability - Let's make this popular and start using it to let these 3 know Nurk needs to be featured more often!

The most telling thing to me is the mindset of CJ.

At the beginning of tonight's game, someone (Brooke?) said they interviewed CJ trying to get the midst of the team. CJ said something to the effect of "if someone told me at the beginning of the season that we'd be at 48 wins with 2 to go, sitting in 3rd seed.... I'd take it."

He's content with the season. They've 'overachieved'. There's no reason to bust his ass anymore to get more wins.

It seems like they've played the last 4-5 games with this half-ass attitude. Tonight they played with a little more urgency, but settled for jump shot after jump shot.

Aminu P/R? What? When have we ever ran a P/R with Aminu on purpose?

He was setting the pick.
Didn't think I'd need to type out Lillard/Aminu P&R.
Unless you're getting at the fact Aminu doesn't roll.
Then well played, but also nitpicky.

I used to love CJ McCollum when he was coming up. He would always be the smartest guy on the court, making the smartest decisions ...
Now he looks like the dumbest guy on the court every time. I don't know if he has been shooting 30% in the last 10 games.
Tonight: 5-18 = 27%. Against Houston
E.T. 38 minutes, 4 points ... 2-9 = 22%, ZERO free throws. but that is expected. He is not getting paid enough to score 10 points.

He said that? Ugh. Beta mindset right there.

Why Stotts continued to call a PnR with Aminu setting the pick is beyond me. That is just poor coaching. Denver would just blitz Dame and leave Chief wide open time after time. They didn't even try to guard him. Why not run the PnR with Nurk? Not rocket science....

Welcome. I haven't liked CJs game for a couple of years now and kept taking grief for it. He can create shots like few in the NBA but when he isn't hitting, he can't do anything else....and he won't stop shooting. Defensively he is below average as well so it's a double-whammy.

Portland has it's core on Lillard/CJ/Nurk.
I expect CJ's next development for his game to be throwing lob passes, or pocket passes to bigs on the P&R.
I mean Collins/Nurk are going to be with the team long term.
CJ must develop this part of his game.

5 years into the league, you'd think he'd have that in his bag already. It's a pretty basic skill.

Yeah, I teach it to kids in camps.

But if you look at his NBA experience, what big man did he have rolling or catching lobs before Nurk got to Portland?
How often did he get to run with Aldridge?

We were throwing lobs in high school and college and I'm sure CJ had the opportunity as well. He may even know how....just would rather shoot. (Regardless of how many defenders he is going against.)

No doubt he's done it before.

And I wasn't trying to give him an excuse.
That pocket pass though, basic fundamental.

CJ just needs to develop it. Less he become more Jamal Crawford, than Steve Nash.

thats not a fair assessment. First, CJ hardly played the first year and a half, and second, lob passes to Plumlee? He hasnt had the bigs he has now. Should he continue to develop his game? yes, but sometimes that development can be hindered by other players abilities... or lack of.

I also think Stotts was running Aminu into the pick to put jokik on Dame. Mismatch for Dame.
