Yikes. Glad you're OK!...with the Grim Reaper the other day. Was driving on a notoriously dangerous part of a road on a mountainside when a bus swerved and clipped me pretty good. My vehicle was probably no more than a foot from rolling down a steep rocky cliff. Had to crawl out the back to get out, as the driver's side was dangling off the cliff. Not a scratch on me but I definitely thought I was done (or at least mangled enough that the wife might look for a new husband).
Any experience with death flashing before your eyes?
That’s ultimately what got me to stop riding. I got rear ended at a stop light by an old guy in an SUV. I was sitting there in my car and I could see him coming up on me real fast. I had time to kinda brace for it and say, “well shit…..” before he smashed into my back. I was mostly fine. My back and neck have never quite been the same since then, but after it happened I couldn’t help but think that I would be dead if I had been sitting there on my bike.Funny thing is, I'm usually on my bike 90% of the time when I'm in VN and have never been in an accident. Been hit 3 times when I was driving my car.
Got to my destination and, just as any real Asian gangster would do, enjoyed a cup of ramen noodles right after.

It made me realize that you can be the safest rider in the world, you could wear all the protective gear, but some people are just bad drivers and are dangerous. It’s amazing to me that we barely test people before allowing them to take these giant metal death machines out into the public.

Glad you made out unscathed. Go buy a lottery ticket!...with the Grim Reaper the other day. My heart goes out to you my friend...nobody should have to go through that.Glad you are fine. We had a roll over when I was in high school that was a bit like that. Rolled over twice with 5 of us in a Ford Explorer due to my friend's terrible driving. Ended up dangling upside down from my seat belt and had to crawl out through a broken window. There was a severe cliff only a foot or two away that quite frankly was not survivable. Got lucky.
Also had a gun against my head on 2 occasions and survived an attempted murder by my dad. Good times.
You being you, as I was reading this I was convinced that it had to be a scene from some obscure movie I've never heard of.Was in India once, being shown the local sights in a taxi with a friend from there. Friend wanted to go on a crazy muddy mountain road that the taxi driver was scared to take, somehow he convinced/bribed the taxi driver to let him drive the taxi. We ended up trying to pass a truck on the cliff side, there wasn't room and the truck tried to push us over. It was slow motion but very scary - the taxi was damaged and the taxi driver was very, very unhappy with us.

My biopic has not yet been released, but I'll invite you to the opening when it's ready.

Got stabbed in the shoulder. Guy was going for the neck. I moved my shoulder up to take the hit.
Got hit by a car when I was 14 crossing Powell in a crosswalk. I went up in the air over the hood, along the side of the car, breaking the driver side mirror, flipping landing ass first on the back door leaving an imprint before bouncing off and hitting the pavement. While I was being hit and bounced around I was in darkness, feeling nothing. I was floating in darkness and I was thinking to myself this is death. This is what death feels and looks like. It was strangely very peaceful, then I hit the pavement and came too....that's when I felt all the pain. Luckily though, somehow my body balled up when I hit the pavement and I kind of rolled a bit. I crawled to the side of the road and collapsed.
I was in an accident in a truck too. My aunt missed a turnoff on the highway and tried to make it anyway. We had another truck attached to us behind with a tow cable. We flipped over and I ended up laying on the windshield. Had to crawl out. Several people had stopped to help. I was about 8 then.
I talked down a group of guys who wanted to kill my friend (They had already beat him up badly), by putting him behind me, rasing my hand and telling them repeatedly there would be no violence. My friend was drunk and being beligerent and disrespectful. They would've beat him to death. They had might of had weapons I don't know. They had us surrounded. They kept saying I could go, but he had to stay and to go while I could. I kept repeating that I was leaving and I was taking my friend with me. Finally, they opened up the circle and I backed us out.
I have had dreams where I die. I have fallen off a ranger watch tower in the woods, been shot in the head, and fell and rolled out into the street without the ability to get up and been run over. I felt it all too.
Good grief, Chris. You’re kind of like that dog named “Lucky”.

I was hit by a car when I was 21 riding a moped in Vegas. Broke my back and spent a month in the hospital. I don't remember anything other than waking up in the hospital.
Thanks. I think I have moved on ok. Life is weird. Just gotta get weird with it, and continue building positivity and creation. My heart goes out to you my friend...nobody should have to go through that.
Damn. Definitely a close call. And the gate is a great idea. With our rollover, the same thing happened with my old electric guitar hitting someone in the back of the noggin and then flying out the window and down the cliff. Hahacloses call I have had actually involved my oldest daughter. When she was two months old we were headed to Portland for the Holidays. My wife was staying long then I was so we were taking two vehicles. She complained that our Daughter was going to cry the hole way, but in my truck she didn't . So we switched her car seat to my vehicle. Half way up Santiam something happened to my wives car and she lost control, dry pavement and under 55 mph, and she ended up hitting a tree just right and rolling her car. Everything that was in the back of her Honda CRV ended up where our daughter would have been. The playpen and other items would have all landed on top of her. We were always glad she drove with me. Also bought a gate after that to make sure everything stayed in the back of the SUV instead of flying forward.
For me the worst was when working in a bank had the robber point his gun at me as I was the only guy in the bank. Everyone else came up to me afterwards and told me they thought he was about to shoot.
