I don’t think coaches use these correctly. They are more concerned about getting points than saving fouls on a crucial player. Countless times I’ve seen a call that almost certainly would be reversed but coach tries and save it till end of game. Then the challenge doesn’t even get used.
Several times the call would have saved crucial foul on someone like Nurk who then has to be used sparingly for remainder of game. I would argue that saving a foul on a crucial player is just as important as getting two points at end of game. Opinions?
