I really liked what I saw in him last night. Doesn't look like he's projected to stay on the team though:

Claver and Babbitt have guaranteed contracts and will almost certainly be on Portland’s opening-day roster. Karl is not expected to be, but Stotts said he hopes Wednesday’s effort helps Karl land a job somewhere in the league.

“I hope teams were watching that performance, because whether or not he makes our team, I think he showed that he should be on an NBA roster,” Stotts said.

So who will it be?

Pav, Morrison, or Karl? They can't really be considering keeping Ewill can they?

Not reading this thread, but the answer is NO!

I really don't agree with keeping EMail. He's not gonna be able to play/improve much this year, and he'll be 24 next year when he does return. Do we really expect him to make the jump at that age, and with the seemingly chronic injury issues that he's having?

It's hard to carry 4 true PG's on a 15 man roster.

That is a good point.

Reason I like Karl out of that group is that Price and Smith worry me as the back up to rookie PG. I get that Lillard will get most of the minutes. But there will be times during the season (due to foul trouble, the long season, ups and downs for a rookie, the rookie wall ect) that the back up PG will be relied on and probably be starting a handful of games. I don't know if it gets much weaker than Price and Smith as back ups.

But your right, 4 PGs is a lot to carry. Smith = shooting guard with handles?

I would have no probs letting Ewill, Nolan, and Babbit go or at least not picking up their options, there also may be some cuts on other teams in the next few weeks who could be interesting

Problem with Nolan Smith is that IMO he is a "shooting guard" in name only, he just can't shoot worth a damn, I cringe when he puts up a shot

That's a good point. But really all our PG's except Price can play SG.

Especially Lillard. He's a little short for a 2, but we may find eventually that he works better at that position. Or swinging back and forth like Jason Terry.

Keeping Karl would mean we would have 5 guards (including Matthews).

I'm not sold on keeping Karl after one game, but I think if he continues to take advantage of his opportunities like he just did, Portland can find space for him.

Seriously, is this a guy who needs more fiber in his diet or what?

The Karls have no eyebrows/eyelashes. I find it troubling.

But Karl can play 1 or 2, if he continues to play as well as he did last night, he'd make a strong case for being a regular rotational player, either as backup PG or SG.

Having Karl would give us 5 guards, (considering Barton to be a 3). But having a 3rd stringer for the 1 and 2 positions is good.

No player on the roster, outside Lillard, could control the offense like Karl did last night.

It'd be stupid to waive him.

I did not see the game last night. But Coby Karl is a SG/SF, not a PG/sG. If he ran the team well last night then maybe his game has evolved. Sounds like a good utility player to have on the bench.

What is the new rule? 15 players? Does EWill count towards the 15? I thought we got an extra player. i think these are the top 14:

PG: Lillard, Price, Smith
SG: Wes, Barton, Pav
SF: Batum, Claver, Babbitt
PF: LMA, Hickson, Jefferies
C: Leonard, Freeland,

That leaves Morrison vs Karl. I would keep Karl.
However there is an argument for deciding between Karl/Pav

He's got a great story, but he looks like he got his hair done at HomeDepot! Like he walked in and bought a power saw and they thru in a free haircut!

Yep, seems pretty simple. Cut Williams, keep Coby.

The decision lines have slashes. I like his hair.

C
Leonard, Meyers
Freeland, Joel
Jeffries, Jared

PF
Aldridge, LaMarcus
Hickson, J. J.
Babbitt, Luke

SF
Batum, Nicolas
Claver, Victor
Pavlovic, Sasha/Morrison, Adam

SG
Matthews, Wesley
Barton, Will
Williams, Elliot/Smith, Nolan

PG
Lillard, Damian
Price, Ronnie
Smith, Nolan/Karl, Coby

Nolan Smith played like a PG last night, and outplayed Dre Miller. :dunno:

Nolan Smith fucking sucks...he is horrible....

and watching Faried tonight only made it worse.....

POR should trade or cut him, he is worthless....

Kobe Bryant, Cobie Smulders, Kobe beef....and the one we can get is Coby Karl.

Sigh.
