There are several million people in America who can throw 87mph.
Just like there are several million people in America who can play guitar as fast as Steve Vai.
True. I've got a 6'7" cousin playing JuCo baseball right now (rising sophomore in East St. Louis) that throws low 90's and just worked with a pitching coach from the Mets with his slider. He's still not likely to be drafted based on what my uncle says though.
I also was talking to some of my friends who played baseball for Tulane when I was in NOLA this week though (we actually have a decent baseball program... four guys got drafted this year), and the former players I was hanging out with all agreed the 87 mph pitch was ridiculously overblown, but they were also talking about how he was actually great baseball player before he decided to focus on football. Apparently he got drafted by the Cubs...
I'd like to meet the several million people in America who could play the guitar as fast as Steve Vai though. Maybe with the "fast" qualifier, that makes sense, because any one can strum one chord really fast and be as "fast" as Vai, but Steve Vai can actually play well and fast. Not to be too off topic, but if you were going to single out one player for just being a "fast" guitar player, then it's got to be Yngwie Malmsteen.
