I just submitted my U.C application like 2 hours before the absolute deadline. I think these are going to be the only schools i apply too because I am plenty satisfied with them. The personal statements were quite a task because I wanted to edit them, revise, over and over to make them just right. I probably should have started writing them 2 weeks ago, and yet I waited.

Is anyone else going through the application process, and how is it going for you?
 
Yeah, I've been sending out applications the past few weeks. I decided to stay local in the New York/New Jersey area because I don't have that type of money to go anywhere too far. The farthest I applied to was Providence College, but my brother lives there, so it won't be so bad. So far I applied to 5 schools though.
 
i suggest you apply to more than two schools. You can never be to sure. If you are low income you could actually apply to up to 6 schools for free I believe. I remember that was how it was in my senior year. I ended up applying to 6 schools for free and paid for 2 other applications. I was very impatiant in waiting for a reply.
 
MrJ, aren't you a junior? How are you applying to schools already?
 
Our deadline is in February, but I'm going to start applying soon. I want to live on res if I get into to two of the schools I want (York, Waterloo for you Canadians), so thank-god they give an OSAP loan if I live on res. Unfortunetly, I won't get a huge loan due to my family's income...my brother and sister didn't get one so it's 100% likely I won't get one either - unless I live on res.

don't live on york res, mostly international students from what i heard and seen!!! waterloo will be boring, my cousin lived on waterloo res
 
I just decided to try and go back to school. Gonna get some applications for a part time job today and do the whole community college scene. Should be fun.

I'm pretty sure you only have to make one application that can be sent to all the U.C.'s. Not positive though.

Never heard about this but I'll look into it next year when I'm filling out applications since my mom is classified as "low income".

I don't see the point of it...

Pending my SAT scores, I'm probably going to apply to something like UCLA, NYU, BC, UPenn, and Columbia next year.
 
Yeah, for U.C's you fill out one application for the lot, and with that you decide which you want to send it to. I applied to Berkeley, UCLA, UC Santa Cruz, UC Santa Barbara (home town probably don't want to go there), UC Davis, and UC San Diego. We'll see where my 2020 SAT scores and GPA can get me. Berkeley is most likely a no, and UCLA is iffy, the others I think I'll get into.

Why didn't you apply to Irvine? I thought that was the third "best" after Berkeley and UCLA (not sure though). I'll be doing the same thing you are though, I'll probably apply to Berkeley, UCLA depending on SAT/ACT scores but for sure Irvine, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, Davis since those colleges I can realistically get into. Also I'll have a safety school, maybe SF, San Jose, or Fresno state.

How's the UofT St. George res?

I might be giving up journalism now and going into business, and I can't get into Ivey/Schulich/Queen's, so I should be looking at UofT, Mac and such...

I don't think U.C Irvine is that good, at least that's my understanding. I think after Berkeley and UCLA San Diego might be the best. I could be mistaken but that's what i thought was true.

expensive when i was thinking about it- it was $8000, i'm assuming its more these days. although, everybody i know enjoyed their days on rez. great lifestyle in the downtown core, contingent on if u come from money.

Well, I don't come from money but my parents are willing to put up the money. If I end up going elsewhere I'll need to live in rez anyways, so my parents have that money set aside. If I go to UofT I'll live in rez.

if your going with a couple of buddies consider renting an apartment close by
 
It is real expensive. But if you go to UofT, I highly suggest you live on rez if you can. The university feels completely different if you commute.

Lol I'd rather live in rez and have a meal plan. Don't like cooking by myself that much, and I could just live with buddies in a suite-style rez.
