Was the Nets sucktitude worth one good man's departure?

Honor him!

Wow, did you see the fist pump by Frank at the end there?

I think it was very classy of Frank to start Twin and run the very first play for him. And I'm so glad it resulted in a dunk.

I don't think Collins was quite worth what he was paid, but that wasn't his fault. He has embodied the meaning of the word "professional", and I'm sorry to see him go. I thought the role he's been in this year -- spot duty defensively in games, working in practices to help younger, more talented players learn the fundamentals of position defense -- was the one for which he was perfectly suited. I hope when his contract is up, the Nets get him back at vet's minimum so he can finish his career as a Net.

Thanks, Twin. You were always my favorite Jason.

A bit more Jabari than I would like...

How ironic that his last bucket with the Nets was a dunk. Collins was a great guy though, his presence will be missed.

Most of yall need to stop, actin' like collins got popped or sumn. When dude was here, yall were bashin' him nights in and nights out.Now that he's gone, yall actin' like he was so important.Suck it up

Kind of disappointing this team couldn't pull together and pull out a win for Collins last game.

Didn't they watch that movie Rudy where his teammates rally around him so he could play in one game?

(2:00 minute mark)

He's as much apart of the Nets contemporary era as Jason Kidd is. Collins was overpaid, and couldn't do the necessary things that a capable big man could, but I'll be damned if I don't feel some sort of attachment to a tradition of the team. It's the end of an era.

I'm not seeing that people are sad because he might have an important part of this team, but rather that he was a part of this team.

Nobody on this team even cares any more. I saw no passion, no desire. They just floated like sh*t on the water. Young Atlanta completely manhandled Nets with steals, fast break points, dunks, open jump shots you name it.
(( Sad night.

Collins isn't the most talented player in the NBA, but I still respect him for the effort his brings. I believe everything Frank says in that video, and it's a bit of a shame that some people diss him like that. He isn't an offensive threat, so don't complain when he doesn't score a basket. Injuries have taken a toll on him too, so recognize that.

There has been a strange feeling watching the last few Nets game. It's the feeling you get at the end of the season when the games are winding down and regardless if you have a playoff seed locked up or out of it completely, the games don't seem to have much meaning and things seem to be coming to an end. That's the feeling I get when watching Nets game now because of all the trade speculation.

Won't deny it. But as time moves on, you begin to realize things a bit better. Yet, the thing is, I never dissed him as bad or as long as some of the fans here.

Yeah I remember going to that game and being pretty shocked at the way the fans were treating him. It was the first game in a while that I had been to (being out in AZ 8 months out of the year), and hoped that this wasn't a regular thing

Jason Collins Has Now Left the Building
February 2, 2008, 11:41 pm

He never got any love from those who just read the boxscores or those who didn’t appreciate the subtleties of the game, but Jason Collins was thought of by his teammates and coaches as a guy who helped them do what they do. Despite knowing that he was on his way out, Collins remained a true professional, playing his final two games as a Net without complaint.

Thank You, Twin - - NetsDaily Blog</div>

Ya.Dude looked like he was about to cry,but he held that shit, hard.

The thing I appreciated about Collins was he was willing to take the punishment to his body by taking offensive fouls when Shaq's elbows came swinging around into his face. Or when Collins is willing to step in to take a charge and a knee to the chest. Definitely was willing to take the hits.

I sincerely wish Collins all the best if he is indeed gone.

He came up big defensively against the Raptors and many other times in the course of his seven years here. Even if he should have been a bench player, he handled any role given to him, off the bench or starting with the utmost class and effort.

Yet he never got any awards or all-NBA defensive team. He had to settle for the respect of his teammates, coaches, and the local media.

And finally, instead of being lauded on this forum and others for his professionalism, defensive skills, and humbleness, he was more often than not attacked time and time again. It constantly amazes me how some on this forum can claim to be Net fans and attack (not criticize, the distinction is in the word) people like Jason Collins and Lawrence Frank who do nothing but dedicate themselves to being complete professionals on and off the court. People who dedicate themselves for the good of the team and never give less than 110% effort to win. People who go out of their way to treat people with respect, players, fans, and the media alike. I think it's embarassing quite frankly.

Get over it. Collins was HORRIBLE. Just because he was a Net doesn't mean I have to act like he didn't suck.

ALSO, Collins has never missed the playoffs here in NJ. We send him to a team that has a zero percent chance of making it. I feel bad..

Why couldn't Memphis have wanted Magloire? Why didn't they want Magloire? Seriously...

</div>thank you. he was a decent guy, never complained, had good defensive IQ, and was a warrior playing on fucked up knees but the man was just a pain to watch on the offensive end. teams left him WIDE open and closed the lane for penetration for VC and RJ and that led to some crappy offenses
