So I got back home this week from school, and our house computer is acting screwy. Before I left I could watch whole episodes on TV. Now, it will run fine for like 10 seconds (the computer), but then it freezes up for like 1-2 seconds and then starts up again. This happens constantly all day, works for about 10 seconds, then freezes up. Typing this message is very annoying, and it may never be published because I might just smash the computer... do you think that would help?

Anyway anyone have any idea on what's going on and why? It's a Compaq Presario with vista home premium. It's pretty new, less then a year I would say. Any ideas would be helpful.

Reformat or start the system in safe mode and do a full virus scan.

have you tried different browsers? Is it only when you're online?

1. I would first try to power cycle your cable modem. unplug from the wall, wait a few minutes then plug back in (and any routers too).

2. With the internet unplugged and you in safe mode, do a virus and spyware scan. make sure you download the latest updates so you might have to be plugged in..who knows.

3. Go to windows updates and make sure you have the most recent updates.

4. Try a different browser.

It sounds like a malware problem, maybe spyware or a trojan.

Download something like MalwareBytes and do a full system scan.
