I'll be watching the Heat/Miami game primarily, but will have to flip back and forth for these games.

Costa Rica @ Mexico - both teams have 7 points. If Costa Rica can somehow win, they will be in great shape to qualify for Brazil 2014. Mexico has been mediocre at home in this round. I expect Mexico by +2 GD.

Panama @ USA - US needs to win this game and get the 3 points. Doing so would put Panama in a tough spot regarding remaining points, and would make the US a heavy favorite to advance to Brazil 2014. USA wins by a goal.

Yeah, I'm going to be watching a stream since I don't have cable anymore. We'll see if that temporary turf holds up. Not having JJ in the middle is going to suck. He and Bradley looked good together. Best case scenario is a convincing win w/ Altidore continuing his scoring streak and something dynamic happening along the wings (maybe a Fabian Johnson goal). Our outside mid play seems soooooo slow these days w/o Donovan.

Why is Klinnsman blackballing Lando from the team? I know he took a "break" from the game, but he's still the best mid-field player the US has to offer in terms of experience and skill. Evans needs to start at left mid-field, and Dempsey is the key now, though. Hopefully Jozy can continue his great play, as you said. A striker needs to be fed, and he seems to be back on his game.

Omar Gonzalez had better not make yet another big mistake, too. He plays fantastic for 85 minutes, but there seems to always be a 5 minute stretch where he gets out of position and gives up a goal.

About Donovan, I'm not really sure. His break coincided with some pretty big qualifiers, so I'm sure that didn't make Klinsman too happy. But you're right, he still is our best offensive midfielder. I'm guessing he plays some in the Gold Cup (or at least the other friendlies this summer if we go young for GC) and then is back in the fold for the rest of the WCQs. We really miss his ability to get it down the field in a hurry.

I just wish Landon had the drive that Dempsey does. Who knows how good he'd have been if he stuck it out in Germany or even at Everton years later.

A Mexico win here, and a US win against Panama would help out the US quite a bit if they could work at least a draw @Costa Rica.

The point in Azteca for the US was huge.

I TOO, SHALL BE WATCHING FUTBOL TO SHOW HOW WORLDY AND EUROPEAN I AM. jajajajajajajajajaja!

Mexico is dominating the first half, but still scoreless at 30'.

Costa Rica has turned the pitch in their favor. Great save by the Mexican keeper.

Mexican fans throwing all kinds of shit at Costa Rica on the pitch!

Mexico dropping points at home like it's going out of style, amiright wheels?

Shortly after being robbed of a penalty Altidore puts USA up 1-0.

New heartthrob Brad Evans has been getting burned. Don't we got a lovechild in Deutchland somewhere who can play right back? I'm assuming Chandler is hurt right?

Kasey Keller is the suck at this broadcasting stuff.

2-0 Final

USA is #1...well they're at least better than Panama.

Some good highlights of the game.

Not a goal, but 3:10 is my favorite play of the night. Jozy could have had 2 assists on the night.

I enjoy watching soccer live, but on television it just doesn't do it for me.

¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡FUERA CHEPO!!!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't El Tri usually go through two or three managers before they get it right? I hate them, but I always root for them in The Cup though.

not sure lol. I actually want USA and FMF to do well as a Mexican/American... but dammit I absolutely abhor both Supporters Groups (No not every single person in them :p )

Neutrally I have cheered for Netherlands since World Cup 94. Edgar Davids was my hero!!!! :pimp:

I remember that you like the Netherlands, I hate them too :)

Anyone watch the game last night? I know it was on during the Finals game, so I doubt many here did. It wasn't as dominating as against Panama, but Honduras is a much better team so that was to be expected. Crowd (when compared to Seattle's), elevation and heat probably didn't help. Jozy, Bradley and Fabian were all really good. Specifically, Jozy's hold up play should have resulted in more goals for us. He kept controlling it and laying off to Dempsey, Zuzi and others, but none of them could capitalize. Speaking of Dempsey, he was just slightly off all game. That missed header was pretty bad.

I keep reading about how Jones is worse than Cameron, but i didn't think he was too bad last night. As I said before, Honduras is much better than Panama, so there is that to factor in. Plus, he had to take an early yellow card to cover up one of Omar's brain farts. With the speed he closed down that player, I'm not sure if anyone else on our team could have made that play. I do think when it is Cameron and Bradley, Cam knows he is clearly the inferior player and is more inclined to stay back. That might be fine for some Concacaf teams, but once we're in the WC, I think we need Jone's speed of play.

All in all, it was good, well fought game. And 9 points from these 3 games was huge.

The ref missed an obvious handball around 62'. Should have been a PK for USA. Good win, though, especially the team that showed up in the second half.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. It could have been 4-0, with that plus some of the missed chances.
