hm...last time the winterhawks won the WHL championship, the Blazers went to the conference finals 2 years in a row...And when they won the championship in 84, the Blazers got the #2 pick in the draft....

So obviously there's a pattern here...

Portland has, iirc, been to the most Finals in the WHL of any team. 11.

Good for the winterhawks but it's just another college Championship. It's Paul Allen's fault that Portland does not have another major sports franchise and it's all due to the fact that the Blazers is the only major sports team he wants in Portland. Portland would have had an NHL team years ago.

I'm not sure it's a college championship.

Does anyone know how the CHL (the parent league of the WHL) compares to college hockey? I would think that most players who make it in the WHL/CHL are higher quality players than college hockey.
