Jrue-Ant backcourt, Grant and Ayton in the frontcourt - that could sneak in to the play-in. Funny that it took trading Dame to get a half-decent team that might've persuaded him to stay.

Grant and Ayton are way overpaid, though. And I think a lot of us fans are going to be antsy if Scoot is coming off the bench. But if I'm Chauncey I'm BEGGING Joe not to trade Jrue... yet.

Bro, how can you call it a mistake if you dont know his thought process?

Could it be possible he already knew he was gonna trade Jrue?
I think he's riffing on the conceit of the thread: that Cronin is so incompetent that he can't even build a non-playoff team. It's a joke or even a compliment.

That he posted the X post about Cronin wanting to move Holiday means Rasta may feel trading away from a playoff team would be a mistake.

(Did I read you correctly, Rasta? We've been doing this a long time so I think I did.)

I got the premise of the OP. But I'm talking this particular post.

Nobody gets my subtle British sense of humo(u)r.

I am sincere that, if we kept Jrue (and he stayed healthy - not a strength of his) we could sneak into the playoffs. But that's the limit of my sincerity.

Yep. I got it. I may not have explained it well, but I got it.

The premise of the OP defined the "mistake" that he then commented on in the post you were replying to... so it seems like you honestly thought he was making a mistake.

I saw it differently. Not that Cronin is incompetent, but he wants to continue to add assets to the team by NOT making the playoffs. This trade moves the process up a few years.

Lol I didn't think Cronin made a mistake though which is why I made my initial comment cause it wasn't a mistake.

It's all convoluted and I got got. Lol. It's all good.

We're playing a dangerous game, trying to get inside the head of Rasta.

I want us to flip Jrue for the best deal possible. is a heckuva player but he doesn't fit the time line

I think that Rasta meant that when the deal is formally announced, it will actually include Giannis to the Blazers.

I mean, that's pretty obvious.

The draft is supposedly not very good in 2024, so the tank may be over. Joe may be thinking that we build around Scoot, Sharpe, Ayton, and Grant and put as many pieces around them now to compete. I do not think it would be good for any of their development to tank.

Will see where Ant and Jrue end up and what we get in return.

This is a decent trade no doubt and especially good since Miami didn't get Dame. So with this trade and maybe some additional tweaking it's clear that it's Joe's team now. No more ghosts from Olsheys past to haunt him. Let's see where things go the next few years of the new Cronin era!

Ant may be our best offensive weapon. I'm certain that he stays

Even if we trade Holiday, I still think we'd have potential to be a good play-in team. And I'd be happy to see it. I hate the idea of continuing to tank for more prospects. Let the current team learn how to win and build chemistry. Let Chauncey prove his worth. Don't let them get stuck in a endless cycle of tanking as you could easily turn into Charlotte or Orlando doing that kind of thing.

It all hinges on Ayton. This is the year to showcase whether he's an empty stats player or if he can revert back to his dominant 2020 form. I think playing with Scoot instead of Booker will help him. If he proves to be a solid piece, we will end the season over .500%.

The rare Greek-British-Oregonian. When it rains, it rains souvlaki and mash; and it rains often in Oregon.

Man, that's some high expectations. I don't believe in Ayton that much, and while I have faith in our team, going over 50% *this season* would be flat out amazing

Not a playoff team yet.

Brogdon/Ant/Jerami/Williams/Ayton

Bench mob: Scoot, Shaedon, Murray, Jabari

That's a run and dunk team right there
