I think its a nice pickup but this is another case of a player who's WAY over priced ($8-10M) that's just nuts.

...I dunno, he's a pretty solid CFer and all around player...and there are a few lesser CFers who are paid much more. (Upton, Ethier, Bourn)

I didn't see, how much $$$ Fowler's contract was for. Yep, He will be a valuable commodity in CF, with a pretty darn good glove. Yet his B'Avg, More=so, his lack of playing close to any full season baffles me.

BTW-add Kemp to that list.

Like the Cubs, the Padres are going balls out to create a PS caliber Team. Seems to me tho' San Diego is spending twice as much cash tho', with no guarantee they will ever be another PS team.

I'd love to see the Cubs one day in a Series, of course against the Yanks who hopefully would beat those Cubs. How can one not feel for the Cubs Plight???/

...^^^ matts, I'm not sure but I think the Cubs also inherited Fowler's arby status. And yes, he's been on the DL a few times for sure.

...and being a switch hitter is always a plus.

Its really sad the way things went for the Cubs, in the 60s they had hitting with guys like Banks, Williams & Santo but they had no pitching. Then when the 70s came around they had pitching with Jenkins, Holtzman Hands & Pappas the hitting was gone.

I'd like to see the Cubs become competitive again.

Wrigley can benefit Fowler is ways, not even Coors Park could.

Fowler is nice CF, makes the plays and had the 3rd highest CF OPS in the A.L....not much power. Good pickup by Cubs and I think they can push for a WC spot.
