According to the report, the producers have "come up with an original take" on the character whereby he confronts challenges concerning "first loves, young rivals and his family as he grows up" before becoming partners with Batman and assuming the iconic mantle of Robin, similar to the approach taken with Clark Kent/Superman in “Smallville.” Variety also indicates the character will be known as “D.J.,” rather than his traditional name of “Dick.”

Another Smallville but I really don't care about Nightwing before he became Robin. Smallville was wicked the first three seasons but the quality just got worse after that, I'm not sure about this one.
