Wow, talk about a dumb gag gone awry. These idiots thought it would be funny to bring a camel to the WI protests. Problem is, camels are made for walking on sand, not snow and ice.

poor guy =[ I would say that's a dumb decision, but not animal abuse. Nobody is striking the animal or depriving it of anything.

One could argue that bringing a desert animal out in 20-degree weather, and on snow and ice, is abusing it.

What's next? Throw a penguin on a Phoenix sidewalk in July for shits and giggles?

I am willing to guess those people are the camels handlers, not the Daily Show producers. Also the whole situation started with the animal getting its foot caught in the metal fencing and I am willing to bet the camel was from someplace close by and was quite used to the snow.

Could be. That doesn't mean that it wasn't slipping all over the ice, and that the Daily Show host asked the guy filming to stop.

He was slipping because his foot got caught in the metal fence. If you watched the other videos you would have noticed that the Camel had no problem until the leg got stuck.

Umm people, Camels live in extremely cold areas too. Camels live in places that get well below freezing and do absolutely fine. They don't only live in the desert. Some camels are built for places like WI.

And yes, as as westnob said, penguins also live South America.

It's definitely nothing compared to the evil of cat jugggling! :ohno:

LOL. That is a great idea, just poorly executed and thought out.

So, throwing one on the sidewalk in Phoenix is a good idea?

No, just you're attempt at matching a penguin with the warm weather of Phoenix didn't really work out, since the weather (depending on the species of penguin) isn't going to bother the penguin.

FYI most animals would be f'ed up in july in arizona. Perhaps you should have said a Polar bear in your story. :devilwink:

What if the Daily Show cooked fried Bald Eagle for a segment after catching one in the wild.

Would that be animal abuse?

How about if they tried to mate a pelican with a lemur?

Huh?

:)

I'd rather we worry about live animals (kittens and puppies) being used as shark bate.

and that hopefully kills the thread.

You mean some jerks don't use puppies and kittens for shark watching?! I hope they don't use frozen ones, they just don't give the shark as much joy!

It is nothing less than an embarrassment.

And now a message from the AMA:[video=youtube;gCMzjJjuxQI]

I live in Oregon's High Desert Area. Many moons ago Camels, Flamingos and Saber-toothed Tigers inhabited the area.

Night-time temps in August are often in the 30's and below 0 in the winter.
