Well, that tells us a lot about how he feels the new rules have impacted is game. New rules, new coach, new players....

...it does? He says the opposite in this interview :dunno:
So you don't think the rule change has impacted his game? The game has gotten more physical and three point shooters are being pressed more as they are not playing off just enough do not get a shooting foul anymore. Dame will get is rhythm back but you will see more catch and shoot off screens. I like the rule changes.

Disappointed to seem him go off on refs and rules. I'm guessing hes blaming his struggles on that then? The best players adapt to rule changes. Im really liking the new rules and hope to see more of it.

dame is so wrong on this one (he got taste of it at the olympics), nba needs to do everything to make the game of bball better and more enjoyable to watch

they did everything in their power to prioritise offense over defense to make the game "exciting and enjoyable", but personally, id like to see players being allowed to play defense, just allow more physical game and this "foul-baiting" rule is great and from what ive seen it so far, fans are loving it, as they should... just treat both offensive and defensive players equally, it will do wonders for the game

Based on everyone's reactions in here it seems as though maybe he said a lot more than what's in this short video clip. If so, will someone post his full post-game transcript please?

What’s disappointing to me is to see people going off on Dame here after watching a short snippet out of a long interview. Yeah, he’s pissed, but it’s more at the inconsistencies in the calls, the missed fouls, and lack of clear communication from the refs as to how they are interpreting the calls. In order to adjust to the rules, players deserve clear feedback and to be able to see the proof of the explanations being called consistently on the court. I don’t think that there’s a player in the league who gives more thoughtful interviews than Dame.

How many years have we been hearing, "We just got to keep getting better"?

Great sentiment and all, but it is NOT happening to the level it needs to with 2 atrocious defenders as your first line of defense. Are they a little better this year? ? Possibly, but that just means they've gone from abyssmal to atrocious.

You can hide one, you can't hide two. #Rerun

I really think the new rules are the reason why Lillard is not as good this year. He was exposed in the olympics and the new rules are more similar to olympic style play. We may never see him put up his old numbers again just like Harden.

in this thread on reddit lots of fans around the league are starting to call him out.

A lot of people on reddit are idiots? No!
that's true but it does provide an insight to how outside fans perceive him. For example they Love Curry and he is killing it this season despite the rule changes.

The NBA didn't actually change the rules to make the game more "physical." That's just referees blowing calls under the new rules. All the new rules did was prevent offensive players from using unnatural movements or changing their paths just to create contact to create fouls on the defense. Aside from that, everything that was a foul before is still supposed to be a foul.

So referees need to get used to the new rules too, apparently, because right now they seem very confused.

it has nothing to do with dame (hes one of the most likeable nba players), fans approve the new rules and naturally, whoever is against the new officiating is considered to be the "enemy" and dame is one of those players

even blazers fans are saying theyre disappointed with dames comments, im one of them

Dame's not against the rule changes. He's against the misapplication of the rules changes.

Love Dame "Like to see him retire here" but he along was others were good at baiting guys into 3 pt fouls and/or And One.
It also, seems to me by the eye test the game has gotten more physical with fewer call, maybe its the ref's have to adjust as well.

there are several posters here that are pretty strongly anti-Dame. They have been for years, but the way this season has gone, it gives them more ammunition to go after Dame. Speaking logic to them and adding full context won't change their opinions

Mate you sure you are not watching some random Nurk interview?

Justin Termine and Eddie Johnson where talking about this on NBA radio today. I wish there was DVR for SXM because I didn’t get to finish it. Sounded like they were both hating on Dame a little bit. Saying that he may not be As good as we all thought and that he may not be in the same tear as your LeBron, Steph Curry and KD ext. They were also saying with the new rule changes and the NBA getting a bit more physical is that maybe he’s getting a small taste of what it was like in the 80s and 90s.

So how have the rule changes affected Lillard? I thought they had made the game less physical, not more. Can someone explain this to me?

Curry is running off of multiple screens without the ball, catching and shooting shots in rhythm, generally playing off the ball a lot more. Which is harder to guard.

It's a good system if you have the right guys.

Dame gave me second hand embarrassment with the “it’s unacceptable” part

Also Dame was 100% one of the players that did “tricks” to get fouls on 3pt shots

He would do a lot of things like throwing up shots when he felt contact, but Dame was never one of the guys who would kick out his leg or fly 10 feet into another player to try to draw the foul. It's like these rules change have gone from trying to stop players from doing unnatural things to try to draw contact to now villainizing anyone who tries to draw fouls in any way, shape, or form.
