milfs are over a certain age. a young girl with two kids isn't a mother in my view. or at least in the sense of her being a milf.

Not unusual. That's why if you're a young guy you avoid dating on the Internet. For shits and giggles I looked at at plentyoffish one time and it seems like every girl that was cute had a kid or two. Even if you're not young, you're probably less likely to want a girl who has already got that level of commitment to something else. I'd prefer someone I can start a fresh family with when ready, and until then travel the world and have fun without worrying about a babysitter.

So yeah, not odd at all to me.
