...David DeJesus was traded from the Cubs to the Nats before their game yesterday...simply switched uniforms and clubhouses, pinch hit for the Nats later in the game, and after the game was promptly placed on waivers.

...weird, guess this means he may be headed somewhere?

Good thing the Yankees don't pick up scraps.

has that ever happened before???

joel youngblood i believe played for two different teams in two different cities on the same day

After trade deadline the player has to be waived

You did the difference was that Youngblood wasn't waived. I'm dying in order for a trade he needed to be waived. It should come out he was traded after being waived and claimed

...sorry man, but no.

...you do realize that DeJesus was not waived first by the team he was traded from, but was instead waived by the team he was traded to after his first first game with his new team?

All I can think of is that they must have a deal for him, teams have to have players on the roster by September 1, in order to be eligible for playoffs. That is all it could be.

...yeah, it IS very weird...like I said, I''d never heard of that happening before...there must be some kind of trade forthcoming.

Before the July 31 non-waiver deadline, teams are free to trade their players at will. After that, however, a player can only be dealt if they clear waivers.Rizzo said the Nationals were interested in DeJesus before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline but the two teams couldn’t agree on a deal at the time. The Nationals then placed a waiver claim on DeJesus after the deadline and hammered out an agreement for the outfielder, who entered Tuesday’s game with a slash line of .249/.329/.400.

^^^ uhh, I'm already aware of that...but that has nothing to do with what I actually said...I think you misread my post and I think you are missing on when he was waived and by whom.

edit;...yes, the Nats acquired Dejesus AFTER the trade deadline, but the PS eligibility rules didn't matter to them because they aren't going to the PS anyway...they then let DeJesus bat ONE time that same night...and after that game they promptly placed him on waivers themselves, which if he now clears waivers, will be eligible to play in the PS for whichever team he is now traded, if he is traded at all.

...yes, it is a somewhat confusing move, but I don't know how to make it any clearer.

59, I don't think he understands what you are saying... that he was waived, not once, but twice...

...lol...I know...but I've tried several times to clarify what I was pointing out in my very first OP in this thread.

...like one the articles I read said, DeJesus was basically "traded for ...nothing."

gotcha..my bad...yes i misread..isnt the first time and certainly wont be the last time

one thing you will get from me...when i realize im wrong..ill take it like a man and say yeah i fucked up lol

Looks like the Rays just acquired him from the Nationals. Would have rather seen another team outside the AL East or another team not fighting the Yankees for a wild card get him. Also A's got Kurt Suzuki their former catcher. Wouldn't he have been an upgrade over Stewart? I would think so but Girardi is in love with Stewart.

...^^^yeah, I saw that too. To be honest, I wanted Suzuki a couple of years ago. Pretty good all around player/catcher.
