I'm not so sure...I hear Adam Silver is a prick!!

Yes but he doesn't have millions and millions of dollars in payoffs yet like Stern has.

We play this right and we should be able to get a few #1 draft picks in upcoming years.

I don't know, but I'm getting the scene in my head where Ethan Hawke goes to the restaurant with Denzel and meets the "Three Wise Men" in Training Day. It's just going to go from Stern sitting at the Shady Table and getting the cash out of the trunk to Silver doing so.

This isn't really unexpected. I don't think he'll be completely out of the picture after retiring. I expect him to pull Silver's strings for a few more years.

I thought this was going to be another fake thread.

David Stern to retire on Feb 1st!

NBA Commissioner David Stern will announce later today that he is retiringon Feb. 1, 2014.

Adam Silver's elevation to NBA commissioner in 2014 was unanimously approvedtoday by the NBA Board of Governors.

Re: David Stern to retire on Feb 1st!

Let's party like it's 1977, flood the streets!!!

Glad to get rid of Stern, but Adam Silver scares me...like he's one of the evil guys from the movie Phantasm or something. I'm pretty sure I will have nightmares the night of every draft he announces -- he was easier to tune out when he did the 2nd round.

Stern leaving = good news.

Silver replacing him - not so much. If half of what they say about Silver is true, brace yourself for more lock-outs and labor strife.

watch out. he's going to want to have the Knicks win a 'ship under his reign. watch Aldridge get traded there next year. :MARIS61:

Maybe they'll (finally!) start testing for HGH?

Maybe they should just stop testing - period. Either the player is breaking the law and it is the business of the courts, or they are not breaking the law and it is nobody's business.

It's basically like Darth Vader taking over for Emperor Palpatine.

adam silver seems like a nerdy numbers guy whereas stern is a slimy, weasly guy who will do anything for the mighty dollar. not sure if I want "Mr. Corporate elbow" running things.

The NBA commissioner should be elected by the fans!

Whilst I'm happy for Stern to go, I'm not sure how I feel about Adam Silver replacing him.

Could be a case of "better the devil you know".

I predict this will go down much like when Nate Bishop became "commissioner" of S2.
