Storms exit Tarrant County, allowing Dean & DeLuca to tee off
After thunderstorms delayed the start of the Dean & DeLuca Invitational golf tournament at Colonial Country Club by more than five hours, sunny skies returned Friday afternoon allowing the second round to get under way.
For the first start of the Memorial Day weekend, the weather will be good for getting outdoors.
“It seems like we’re done” with the rain, said National Weather Service meteorologist Juan Hernandez. “There’s a slight chance of storms Saturday and into Sunday. Then it looks pretty unsettled next week.”
Jordan Spieth shakes off Masters woes, wins Dean & DeLuca Invitational
Jordan Spieth made an emphatic statement with his back nine performance on Sunday at the Dean & DeLuca Invitational to earn his first PGA Tour win in the state of Texas.
Spieth opened with all pars on his front nine, but tore through the back nine with six birdies and just one bogey to post a final round 65 and finish at 17 under, three clear of second place. Spieth closed with birdies on the final three holes of the day, none more impressive than his chip-in on the 17th that put him two shots clear of Harris English and essentially iced his win.
