The last two games:

Drummond: 29 pts | 27 rebs
Hickson: 19 pts | 13 rebs
Combined 70 fg%

Plumlee tries but Meyers is a comlete zero on this end. Right now Leonard is looking frighteningly like Bargnani.

Is there an elite shotblocker in the draft? Someone that is at least 7 foot and can protect the interior? That's one area we sorely lack, as evidenced by the last 2 games.

I was trying to be optimistic about Leonard's defense, but he really is terrible. He gets bullied by strong bigs and is much to slow to guard quick guys.

Meyers and vonleh please trade these two for anybody

Cheick Diallo.

But this team lacks more than just an elite shotblocker. Plumlee and Davis are adequate post defenders. Hickson had a good game, hats off to him, Drummond did what he does.

Gasol and Randolph got shut down. Favors and Gobert got shut down. Towns wasn't special against us.

This team is young and inconsistent. We need another star to rely on, or semi star even. Putting a lot on the backs of Lillard and McCollum at the end of games. Teams know this and zero in on them.

Cheick Diallo will likely be in our range. I doubt we'll suck enough to land a top-10 big.

Aminu might be our PF of the future. If we can get Steven Adams, that's a good defensive pair. But Olshey seems to be enamoured with Meyers, since he loves his own picks.

Leonard is just not quick-footed enough. He can achieve great end-t0-end velocity (straight line speed), but his agility/change of direction is an area of weakness. That's why I don't think he should play the 4 spot. He can't keep up laterally with most of the other PF's in the league.

I think Stotts defensive strategy is making a lot of the Blazers look slow, they need to be more active and aggressive. They should be able to better use their length and athleticism.

Exactly. He has a ton of length and athleticism, and uses the most conservative defensive strategy in the league.

There is an elite shotblocker available right now...for free. Robert Upshaw is playing in the D-League.

In the Draft, Chiek and Skal are probably the best shot-blockers if your pick is high enough.

Meyers is the softest "big man" I have seen in recent history. That guy can't back down and score on a guy 8" shorter than him. And his swipes at wrists on defense, and his weak rebounding (how many times did guys just swipe the ball out of his hand after he grabbed it),.... ugh. Get better, dude!

He has great touch, a sweet outside shot, and knows his strengths on offense.

That's it. More PT is exposing his deficiencies

see my recent post "Summer of 2016" and my suggestion of going after Hassan Whiteside, he is a UFA and here is no surety we get him but as we have seen we BADLY need an inside presence vs what we have seen which is fukkin ugly or FUGLY!

First i got it, then the forum gets it,then the little kids get it annnnnd maybe then Stotts gets it.

Our interior defense was softer than Kate Upton's tits tonight!

Wait for it to load lol

I really hate how Stotts refuses to let Leonard play C. He isn't quick enough to guard PFs, he is a much better man defender against opposing Cs.

Davis and Plumbs are much better suited to guard PFs, they are quicker.

Meyers is horrible. He can do a few things well, but overall he's trash. He should have took the contract Neil offered and laughed all the way to the bank.

Well Stotts defense scheme is soft and if Neil is so high on ML maybe he should go back to Cali. Or just say to himself we gave the kid a chance and he just didnt pan out then go another direction.

I've put my head in my hands watching Beibs play D inside this year. As Billy Bob would say, he sucks ass. Wish we could have hired Laimbeer to replace Hughes. Nards needs to learn to elbow someone in the mouth.

Your not the only one who I have read say Aminu is our future PF, but I don't see it. I think he is our future SF..IF he works out. IF not, he will be our backup SF. I think he has a big size advantage against them on the offense and has the defensive abilities to keep most of them in front of him most of the time.
I think that we might see this start to emerge...

PG...Dame/CJ
SG...Henderson/Harkless/Crabbe
SF...Aminu/Henderson/Crabbe
PF...Ed Davis/Aminu/Meyers
C...Plumlee/Kaman/Davis

Too few minutes for our midsize 2-4 positional players. A trade is imminent. I am starting to wonder about how much upside there is for Aminu though. Every game he seems to think he can driver hard to the hoop and turns it over way too often, when a good pass would have hit a wide open solid shooter. I havent seen any change so far. I am thinking a trade for Paul George with Aminu as the backup SF would be incredible. Biog problem is, Meyers just lost big trade value and i'm doubtful he can get it back by the deadline, but if he can, Im thinking of something like this?

Crabbe, Leonard and our draft pick for George. We become a playoff team now.
Then the next off season DMC is a free agent and we sign him.

Paul George
Damian Lillard
Demarcus Cousins

Thats a big time three right there. Add CJ, an improved Davis, Vonleh, Aminu and Plumlee and the following is a favorite I think in two seasons from now....

PG...Dame/CJ/Harkless (assuming his handles improve, I think he is quick enough to do this)
SG...CJ/Henderson/Harkless
SF...George/Aminu/Henderson
PF...Vonleh/Davis/Aminu
C...DMC/Plumlee/Davis

Thats a great ten man rotation that I think could switch around to dominate almost any offense, defensively. This team could outrun you. out half court you. out rebound you. and out score you.

okay.. someone pinch me and wake me up. Though not impossible....I think I'm dreaming.

We'd have to add Lillard to that trade package and its still probably gets declined. Paul George is one of the top players in the game on both sides of the ball. Might as well suggest we trade for Anthony Davis, Drummond, Steph Curry, LeBron, Wiggins, Durant. Those deals just don't happen.

Davis and Plumlee can't play together, no shooting.
