This is the only information posted by DHS, and it's a day old.

FEMA is closely monitoring the effects of the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that struck Japan early this morning, and through our regional offices in the West Coast and in the pacific area, we are in close contact and coordination with state and local officials and stand ready to support them in any way needed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by this tragedy.

Tsunami warnings and watches have been issued for the U.S. territories of Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, as well as portions of coastal areas in Hawaii, Alaska, California, Oregon and Washington.

Our immediate priority is the safety of the people and communities in the affected areas. We remind everyone who lives in the region to monitor their local news for instructions from their state and local officials and if told to evacuate - evacuate.

Not even any mention yet on their site of the nuclear meltdown which occurred last night, nor what to expect from the inevitable fallout of massive radiation doses on America next week.

Proof again they are a wolf in sheep's clothing, and protecting us is not their mission.

Sorry, working on 2 pc's at once.

Mods, move to OT please?

My search on the DHS site:

Your search - japan meltdown - did not match any documents.
No pages were found containing "japan meltdown".

Suggestions:
Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
Try different keywords.
Try more general keywords.

Somebody give them a call and tell them to turn on the TV? Your tax dollars at work.

Actually, this is more proof that with a lack of education coupled with one who doesn't attempt to ask questions to find their answers, but to accept the first scenario that appeals to their uneducated bias and then make an outlandish claim based solely on their mistaken impression of it, one can feed into the hysteria of the ignorant. Well done.

You cannot comprehend radiation metrics and don't understand simple nuclear physics, yet fear a "fallout of massive radiation doses" next week. First, fallout isn't a dose of radiation. It's contamination that gives off radiation. Big difference. Contamination is, to use an analogy, dog poop. It can be seen and picked up. Radiation is the smell that comes from the poop, and will go away when the poop is removed. Even with the explosions, loss of coolant casualty and loss of electric power, the reactor itself is not damaged, the fuel is not critical, and we're talking about decay heat damaging the fuel cells. Which is kind of a moot point if they've already injected boron and seawater. That fuel cell will never go critical again.

If you have specific questions I'll happily answer them for you. Let's just say there's a reason DHS is less worried about "nuclear meltdowns" and "massive radiation doses" than tsunamis...b/c like a meteor hitting the earth and ending the world as we know it, your claims of massive radiation doses and meltdowns are not even worth the time it takes to utter a statement about their unlikelihood.

And even if for some unknown reason that defies the laws of physics there WAS a chance of a massive radiation dose, what would the Maris-run DHS do?

Nothing. They are useless and unable to serve their supposed purpose of protecting us from all threats. I would shut them down completely, saving the taxpayers a bundle while restoring efficiency to the travel and transportation industries, which would create jobs...

After studying the DHS site a bit more I have stumbled on the surprisingly simple explanation why there is no mention of the nuclear threat or anything else after the initial "possible tsunami" warning.

The Department of Homeland Security does not work weekends.
