Who is Stefan Bondy and why does he control D Will's decision making?

gee and they released their new logo yesterday. what a coincidence!

Who is this nerd who started a thread on my forum about a player who doesn't even play for us!

Ya, I posted this already. Not a surprise

What's not a surprise?

That Deron would not toss away his chance at the most possible money (get the biggest deal resigning with your own team) in the largest market in the U.S. on a whim and would give NJ the chance to show they have a plan for a relatively quick rebuild?

Yeah, that is not a surprise.

Or, is the surprise that a New York reporter would claim that Deron is most likely going to resign with the Nets? And that said reporter would back up his claims with.....absoulutely nothing.

Yeah, that is not a surprise.

I think this report is worthless. We have learned nothing new, except that this report does contradict Deron's own recent quote about Dallas.

Nets reporter for New York Daily News.

I am sure he has sources, but his report is hedged to the hills and he quotes no one.

Local reporters are notorious for telling fans made up crap just to feed their insatiable demand for what is going to happen.

Nobody knows yet. Not the Nets management. Not Deron. So, how the fuck could this reporter know?

Their new arena is awesome.

The RG commons area and exterior need some major renovating. These new arenas are on another level in comparison.

I'd rather the team get renovated instead of the concourse. I go to games to watch the Blazers win, not see how much money I can spend on wine and cheese.

If you post here, your whine is free.

You can have both. Before the luxury boxes were renovated they were "embarrassingly" outdated. You can say the same for the commons area and the exterior hasn't aged well either.

Though, I bet any renovation will have to wait until the Jumptown development gets started. And that's an "if".

I'll be very surprised if he re-signs with the Nets. So much is gonna happen between now and free agency.

I seriously doubt DW stays in Brookland. I don't think he's happy there. I'm not saying he's coming to Portland, but I can see him bolt.

If you're Deron Williams, why would you re-sign with the Nets when their next best player is Brooke Lopez? He would be committing to them for five more years..... I highly doubt he does that.

Most money he can get and endorsement bonaza

I think he resigns

Has anyone ever done the leg work to find out exactly how much more endorsement money an established star like Williams would make in a market like NY compared to a city like Portland?

I haven't, but Deron did mention the endorsement potential he has in NY.

(no link, but rememeber the comment when asked if he would resign with NJ)

Can somebody with a marketing background explain how being in NYC you can make more then Portland? With everything done online now how does this help being in a bigger city? I hear the term "Media Exposure", but what does that really mean now?

Well, I would guess it has more to do with the smaller endorsements. Guys like Deron already have Nike, but think of all the smaller commercials and ads they do. Greg had a Ford dealership here. That little Ford dealership commercial would probably cost twice as much in NY. Also, it's a bigger stage and the NBA tends to put the larger markets on TV more than the smaller markets. The problem is, if the team sucks it will hurt his marketability and we will see him less on national TV. Kevin Durant seems to be doing okay in bumfuck OKC.

I remember seeing Alex Rodriguez doing a spot for some random sandwich shop in the Bronx. Commercial cracked me up.

I think it's also opportunities, and what the media tells us is important. Why do you think the Knicks are on TV so damn much? Exposure.

I do wonder if the COL in New York (or big cities) is an issue for players, or if they just want to be "famous" or in the know.

The problem with a lot of players (and this mentality) is that they fail to grasp that if you are a winner in ANY city, you'll make more money.

Obviously there are players who wouldn't make money no matter what market they're in, but in todays world you don't have to be in NY to get the deals (other than local deals).

Greg Oden didn't get any major ads because Greg Oden sucked as a Blazer. In the universe where Kevin Durant was picked by the Blazers (can I visit that one, please?) he'd make tons of money in Portland. It's because he's the chosen one AND also because he's actually a damn good player.

If you suck, you don't get shit.

That would make a great bumper sticker.... or t-shirt.

I'll bet a ticket to a game next season to the first taker that Deron Williams doesn't end up in Portland next season.

I reeeaaalllyy hope I lose that bet, though.
