When asked whether he would consider demanding a trade or asking the Blazers to move him to a situation where he could get consistent playing time, Diogu replied: "Nah. I just think about my situation here and what I can do to get on the court here. I don't worry about any other team because that's out of my hands and I don't think it's very professional." While Diogu is remaining professional, sources close to the situation insist either Diogu or Frye could be had for the right price. One source went as far as to say he believes at least one of the two will be moved before February's trade deadline.

Hey, an NBA player acting professionally and taking things in stride. :ghoti:

It's the old Catch-22 that all sports writers and these unnamed sources continue to talk about...

If you've got strong depth at a position, there's no way every player is happy about it. But if someone gets hurt, and you don't have that extra player? Your team is screwed.

I bet between Aldridge, Frye, Diogu, Oden, and Przybilla, someone is going to get hurt - hopefully not seriously, and hopefully not for long. At the very least, a player will get worn down, and Nate may want to rest him for a couple of games. In any case, Diogu would be smart to sit tight and anticipate getting playing time at some point later this season.

Alternatively, I think Nate might want to push Diogu into being a bully off the bench. If the Blazers are being beaten up physically, Diogu should inserted to bang inside. That's where he became the top scorer in the Pac-10 at ASU.

Diogu has a role with this team. It's up to Nate, or circumstances, to find it.

I actually like Diogu in the backup power forward role and I think with a little more consistent playing time those missed layups we've seen from him will go away. He's undersized but he fights for boards and gets to the foul line.

Yeah I like him a lot more then Frye right now. Frye is a great guy, nice person. But just not a good enough basketball player. He had so much potential in college. Hell of a shot blocker AND 3 point shooter. Now he can barely make an 18 foot 2.

I agree. And he has unexpected athleticism. He's undersized, but plays up in size with his effort, mindset and athleticism.

I like what Ike said - sounds like he's a pro's pro.

It's a good thing that a reserve averaging 1/1 isn't "demanding" a trade - that probably wouldn't go over so well.

...if LMA is "lightning", then GuGu is "thunder"!!! It is a perfect contrast...Frye is just a softer version of LMA and more of the same [I really want to see what LaFrentz, Outlaw, and Frye could net the Blazers before the deadline and/or any combo of those 3]!!!
