<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Chad Ford thinks the Nets could be a suitor for the talented but enervating Rasheed Wallace this summer, dangling their #10 pick. Buried in Thursday’s ESPN Draft Notes is Ford’s list of teams who he could see pursuing the 33-year-old power forward. The four-time All-Star has an expiring contract that will pay him $13.7 million. The Pistons have promised a house-cleaning.</div>

I want to get younger not older.

Your post quotes this Nets Daily entry

The Chad Ford write up is here

I love Rasheed ALOT but I highly doubt he'd stay here past the remainder of his contract. Wouldn't make much sense for us to give up the #10 pick just for a one year rental and cap space.

The Nets had a chance to get Sheed years ago and they didnt pull the trigger and the Pistons won a championship that year. I think the rumor was Sheed and Patterson for Martin and whatever. Sheed got traded to the Hawks then to the Pistons. They eliminated us in the playoffs and went to win the Championship. Then K-Mart left then it was down hill from there.

There is no reason to go down this road. Why do we want to help the pistons? I would rather keep the 10th pick. There must be something better out there.

That said I would trade for Rip or Prince. I really doubt Billups is going anywhere. I love the way Rip plays the game. Prince's all around game is underrated.

I like sheed but I doubt he solves NJ's problem and let's be honest, I can't see a Sheed and Frank relationship lasting one season

yup....

1) Sheed is not worth the #10 pick at this stage.
2) He and Frank will not mix.

About three years too late on this one.

All you need is Jason Kidd back, too.

Yes. The one from three years ago.

The sole purpose of getting Rasheed is to clear up some cap space. I don't think Thorn or Kiki are looking to keep him around any longer than that. So, what's more valuable, cap space or the 10th pick?

You can clear up cap space by trading for players a lot less costly than Rasheed.

This is pointless discussion, because I don't understand why Detroit would trade any of their players.

True, but at the time a KMart for Sheed/Patterson deal was not good for us. We just finished a 2-4 finals appearance against the Spurs and KMart was a valuable part of the team. At the time, I dont think anyone knew KMart would demand a max contract, and even if they did, that some team would be stupid enough to give it to him the following summer. I remember reading a headline on RealGM that he demaned a $66 million extenstion and when he was turned down, he demanded a trade. Things simmered down a few days later.

Plus, I dont think the deal would have worked anyways, because of KMart's contract status that summer. I'm fuzzy on the details. That, and no way did Thorn want Patterson on the team.

Although I do remember reading some funny stories about Thorn personally calling the Hawks front office; begging them not to trade Sheed to the Pistons!

Just another sham trade that directly led to a championship.

The CBA sure does make charity a big factor in who wins titles.

Screw Danny Ainge. I hope the Celtics get swept. Serves them right.

Haha Jerry West handed LA Pau, either way ya shake it old players are helping their former teams to get that title their current ones won't be seeing for a long time, if ever.

I was all for that trade. Like you said Thorn wanted no part of Patterson, but Rasheed would have given us the Low Post game we needed to win. K-Mart just lacked the low post game to really demand significant double teams. With what little shooters we had, they would have had field days playing off Sheed back then.

I didn't say screw Kevin McHale! He's doing a good enough job of that on his own.

I said screw DANNY AINGE for handing the freaking Pistons their championship.

Now he's gonna get his.

Yeah I agree with you. Ainge did the Pistons a favor.

I'm missing the Ainge-Hawks connection. Was he the GM who made that Sheed to Pistons trade?

That was a three team trade Pistons - Hawks - Celtics.

Justice would have been the Celtics losing to Sheed and Detroit in the ECF.

And injustice is what actually happened. (Now and then, actually.)

If the package includes the Pistons starting five, then yes.

Everyone that says a Frank and Sheed pairing wouldn't work, I think it's complete opposite. I think their relationship would be gold and Sheed would thrive under Frank. It's all about the bball IQ.

You think Frank has been dying for a defensive-minded big man with range who thrives in a team-oriented system? What's wrong with you?

Alas, it's too late now. Where was this when it would have really mattered?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Chad Ford thinks...</div>

I'm surprised anyone took any of that seriously after reading those^ first 3 words

Clearly, Rasheed is getting traded to the Knicks.
