I wish collecting Sports cards was still a Profitable Business like it was back it the 80's. There are still some around.

Those late 80's cards are 99.9% worthless, I was thinking of wallpapering my man cave with them

While supplies last, if you buy my album on Paypal for $10, I will also throw in a 1990-1991 NBA Hoops basketball card with my signature on it.

You won’t see this deal anywhere else! If you have a specific player from that era in mind, please let me know. But hurry, like I said, supplies are limited. There’s only so many Nick Anderson rookie cards or whatever!

I do collect dvr recordings of the rockets series though. Missing game three though.

I have a whole closet full. Spent every last dime until I about 13 and would still crack a pack if I was going through the grocery store line years after.

Dust off your collections fellow nerds. This hobby has been going through the roof and I have found a small fortune in my closet from my childhood. I am currently in the process of getting things graded and authenticated with PSA. Also if you have really valuable cards they are selling on auction for considerably more than they are valued so the price is basically skyrocketing as we speak for instance a MJ 1986 fleer GEM Mint 10 is valued at $115k but selling for $200k. Pretty much anything with Michael Jordan on it is worth something. Most cards in all sports from 1990 to 1992 are worthless until Shaq's rookie came along then its all about Kobe and Lebron stuff. Anything 1988 and before is $$$$. Centering for grading is key so dont get too excited if you have a great card, getting a GEM Mint 10 rating is difficult.

i went through mine this spring and have been trying to find a place that allows me to drop them off for grading, but everyone requires an in depth detailed log of each card. I have hundreds needing grading. They reauire me to set a value on the card and then pay accordingly and then if it comes out less than what i deemed, i still have to pay the higher rate, which seems way bogus to me. (They charge a percentage of value).
I have Many rookie cards including the members only stadium club shaq rookie and mj cards selling between 1-5 k eCh depending on grade.
What company are you using to get to PSA?

mind if i pick your brain in DM? :)
I would love to liquidate and pit money into my studio.
Id also be willing to sell a lot of them to someone ungraded for a package deal where they could pc them off and make some green.

Feel free to DM me. PSA is the company. With my research it came down to PSA and Beckett who do grading and PSA has been do ing it longer, they are the standard and I heard they are a little more lenient than Beckett.

Your right about the cost, it can add up and most people over estimate their own collection. PSA has $12 option for all cards that you think are worth $200 or less, so you can get bulk done with that but it will still add up. I spent hours looking at my cards and trying to figure out what they would grade at. Its a tedious process. I am mailing them to PSA using USPS registered mail, which you can insure up to $50k for a reasonable rate. You have to package the cards just as they ask you to though so pay close attention. If you try to slip in high value cards at low rates they will up charge you for a more valuable card but if you submit a lower value card at a higer price they do it at that expedited rate. Declared value only has affect on max insurance rates and grading costs, otherwise the process is the same.

when you are trying to determine prices use PSA pricing guide but also check their auction history. Its very possible the auction history has recent sales more than the pricing guide.

The PSA submission process has a very nice tool to help you build your detailed list. It auto searches and has the card number associated with the search so you dont get confused

Don't even bother inquiring about that Dave Jamerson card, the autographed Will Perdue napkins (x2), or the autographed Vinnie Johnson bib.

You don't bother me with showing you the hand that shook Nixon's hand and shook Kennedy's hand and I won't ask you about the Dave Jamerson card, the autographed Will Perdue napkins (x2), or the autographed Vinnie Johnson bib.
