I have one and i swear in the fall and spring im better off using the push mover.
The grass never dries enough and ends up constantly sticking to the sides of the chute of the riding lawnmower and clogging up forcing me to disassemble and clean it out ten times a mow.

Three years now and i havent found a solution. Does anyone have this problem and how did you fix it?

ive tried prelining the chute with dry dirt, no luck. Just a grassy muddy mess.

I ask because im about to go through this all over again this weekend. Need to mow while its not raining.
I have a good mower. Its a solid three blade john deer. But damn it if the chute sucks. Or doesn't suck well enough.....
 
I'm sure @THE HCP knows how to deal with this...

its the chute itself though. Not sure i could spray a smooth coat. The underside might be worth a try though! It also sticks to the underside but typically not an issue that stops me from mowing through.

Trick here is not just the dry dirt. You need to sharpen your blade. Yes even if it's brand new. Factory blades are not sharp. They have an edge that will cut but they are not really sharp. Next try raising your deck and cutting the long wetter grass once quick first. This actually works out a way to dry it a bit first.
Bottom line cutting wet long grass in early spring and late fall is a pain.

The chute gets clogged because the grass is being torn instead of cut.
Again though. If it's too wet it's gonna clog. Just the fact of cutting wetter grass.

that would make sense but i had it tuned up and blades sharpened prior to the firt mowing of spring. Unless....

i paid for something i didnt get...

now you have me getting frustrated. Lol.
I thought there might be some magical nw fairy dust i can sprinkle on my yard or something. Lol.

There is but you have to catch the fairy?

Nope but my dad used too when I was a kid. I used to sit with him on it as he mowed the lawn while drinking a beer.
 
I used to have a small lawn tractor back when we lived on a five acre place. The mower worked great and I never had any problems with clogging from wet grass. Guess it depends on the individual manufacturer.
 
Bagging wet grass if its gotten to long can be a problem, if your are cutting to short. Grass should never be cut more than 1/3 of the length.
 
I cut mine at 3" no lower and when its wet do half runs. Go slower in wet grass too.

You can purchase high lift blades that really help with bagging wet grass.

I traded in my 30 year old Kubota B5100 for a Kubota BX2380 this summer. We have 3 acres on a hillside and it's great. Lots of fun to play with the front loader too
