And if you have a preference list and tell why? Just curious.

I love German autos (I would say this even if I wasn't owned by the Germans).
The only non-German car that I have driven that comes close to the performance and engineering German cars are some of the Subarus out there. Get one with a turbo, and it's really on. But I prefer the classier style of the German cars.
both? some of the more popular japanese name brands are at least partially manufactured in america.
I went from Japanese to German recently and couldn't be happier.
Subaru of America for cars, NissanUSA for suvs, Ford for trucks.
Rambler for nostalgia.
I went from Chinese to Japanese and couldn't be happier.
did you happen to go "dirty knees, look at these" in the process?
...it is tough to beat the value that Hyundai is producing these days, but I have always preferred German engineering.
Kraut Cars- best to drive but so overengineered a nightmare to own
SUV (Escalade) is Amurrrican
Sedan (Camry) is Japanese
The worst car I ever owned was a 2001 VW Passat V6. That thing cost me almost $4k in engine problems. Thankfully my work paid for it at the time, but wow, it looked nice, ran very well when healthy, but was a freaking lemon and hell to have fixed.
The mechanics and claims adjusters I know say they are still garbage. Time will tell. When they start routinely going 250,000 miles and not folding like tissue paper in accidents I'll believe it.
It depends...
Sedan: I prefer German cars...specifically BMW.
SUVs and trucks: I definitely prefer American. Specifically Ford Powerstrokes.
Sports Car: For a performance/cost ratio you can't beat the Corvette. But in general I'd probably go with German sports cars.
Just something that runs but is boring: Japanese cars.
I ran mine to 250k over 6 years or so and was shocked. Sure, they don't hold value like other brands. But they'll run.
