In 1980, Mikovits was awarded a Bachelor of Sciencedegree in Chemistry with a specialization in biology at the University of Virginia. After graduation, she went to the National Cancer Institute in Frederick, Maryland, where she developed purification methods for Interferon alpha. In 1986–1987, she started working at Upjohn Pharmaceuticals in Kalamazoo, Michigan, working to develop production methods to ensure biological materials manufactured using human blood products were free of contamination from HIV-1. In 1992 she completed a joint PhD program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at George Washington University.[11] Her PhD thesis was titled "Negative Regulation of HIV Expression in Monocytes."Mikovits was a postdoctoral scholar in molecular virology at the Laboratory of Genomic Diversity, National Cancer Institute, under Dr. David Derse.

Okay, I’ll unpack the snopes fact check more a bit later, but I already found a major inconsistency on their first link.

First, the charges link was on a suspended account, which seems suspicious, but then again it’s snopes. I tried searching around and found another link here:

So she was arrested on a process crime by another State:

The Ventura County, California Sheriff’s Department web site lists Mikovits under booking number 1259336, charged with a felony violation of California Penal Code section 1551.1, “Fugitive From Justice.” This is that section, according to FindLaw:

The arrest of a person may also be lawfully made by any peace officer, without a warrant, upon reasonable information that the accused stands charged in the courts of any other state with a crime punishable by death or imprisonment for a term exceeding one year, or that the person has been convicted of a crime punishable in the state of conviction by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year and thereafter escaped from confinement or violated the terms of his or her bail, probation or parole. When so arrested the accused shall be taken before a magistrate with all practicable speed and complaint shall be made against him or her under oath setting forth the ground for the arrest as in Section 1551.

Then later sued by the company she worked for, but that company dropped the charges. Why?

The arrest seems linked to a lawsuit. On November 14, ScienceInsider reported that the Whittemore had sued Mikovits:

A little more than 1 month after firing Mikovits, the Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease (WPI) on 4 November filed suit against its former research director. According to WPI, after Mikovits was terminated on 29 September, she wrongfully removed laboratory notebooks and kept other proprietary information on her laptop and in flash drives and in a personal e-mail account. WPI, a nonprofit organization that’s based on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno, also won a temporary restraining order that forbids Mikovits from “destroying, deleting, or altering” any of the related files or data.

Mikovits attorney, Lois Hart, said her client cannot speak to the media about the case, but she strongly denies any wrongdoing. In an e-mail to ScienceInsider, Hart stressed that “Dr. Mikovits’ integrity goes to the bone.”

The Ventura arrest lists a hearing on Tuesday, November 22, at 1:30 p.m., which is the same time the Washoe County Courts have a hearing scheduled in Whittemore’s case. The Osler’s Web blog reports that a clerk told them Mikovits was arrested on an “out of county warrant” from Washoe County.

I don’t accept that answer. At least @SlyPokerDog provided a snopes link. I’ll be fact checking snopes, because they aren’t a reputable fact checker. If information given to me is logical, I will change my position. Nothing has been presented so far has changed my mind.

Okay, the snopes, "fact check" that she was arrested because of her report is false, just as they claimed. She was arrested for a process crime regarding a lawsuit in another state, later that case was dropped.

It also seems the study: Detection of an Infectious Retrovirus, XMRV, in Blood Cells of Patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, has been debunked by science:
"Science is fully retracting the report “detection of an infectious retrovirus, XMRV, in blood cells of patients with chronic fatigue syndrome” (1). Multiple laboratories, including those of the original authors (2), have failed to reliably detect xenotropic murine leukemia virus–related virus (XMRV) or other murine leukemia virus (MLV )–related viruses in chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) patients. In addition, there is evidence of poor quality control in a number of specific experiments in the Report. Figure 1, table S1, and fig. S2 have been retracted by the authors (3). In response to concerns expressed about Fig. 2C [summarized in (4)], the authors acknowledged to Science that they omitted important information from the legend of this figure panel. It’s not out of the realm of possibility to think a few vaccine manufacturers may see a viral outbreak as a good way to line their pockets. Or did you think pharmaceutical companies and big medicine were not looking at profit margins? It doesn’t seem odd to you that billionaire vaccine peddler Bill Gates is out clamoring for mandatory universal distribution of a vaccine that doesn’t even exist yet? Largely the pharma industry is hoping that treatments and vaccines will improve their public image more than their bottom line. They are aware that profiting off the pandemic would be a very bad look.
