Players are getting paid on teams that make money. Sounds like capitalism to me. You guys see greed, I see the American Dream. Kids with talent, practice and play hard. They work their way into the MLB and they leverage their talents into large salaries. God bless them, I'm happy for them. Their time on this stage is so very short, and they generally don't have anything else to fall back on, they have sacrificed and risked all for a shot at playing ball. The deserve whatever they negotiate for themselves.
Hey'a Totus-
I think I finally put my thumb on the disparity between how my old generation 55-70 yrs of age, see a difference in pursuit of the Golden American Dream, than younger generations 35-55.
We too grew up, into our 40s, in pursuit of the American Dream. I know I got mine, and am not complaining.
However, as our generation grew older, we begin to see the American Dream is actually in decadence. The Gold is now rusty decadent cancer. We begin to see how persons in 3rd world nations get better health care, from our own Govt. than our Govt. will take care of its own. Yes, no doubt, elder geriatric people, in my generation, see Health Care is actually The UNAFFORDABLE Health Care Act/JOKE.... yes, we have seen it first hand in experiences over sea's, in person, in War, in pursuit of Policing the Whole World, yet being laughed at mocked at by our supposed Allies. Putin Pukes on the USA, (says publicly "the US is a leech on the World's Economy)....and what do we do, offer him money, Billions. Pakistan hides Bin Laden, and what do we do, give Pakistan Billions.
So basically, yes I agree, anyone is free to chase or pursue the Golden American Dream, and should get it while they can. I think all of us agree on this part. Get as much money while you can!!!
However, I don't know if you see in your work-life, even in public life, how many low life's do you see pursuing as much money for as little effort or work as necessary. What the heck happened to this Generation of younger kids. I see a 50/50 split. Generation S (20-35) to often is seen as Slackers. Some say, see and do indeed, work their asses off in this young generation. Yet so much is being lost on them. The Craftsman is a dying breed, and has been in decline since God who knows, I saw it myself in American Aerospace Production. I see decadence in the workplace, every where I go.
For example, (I'll spare the details) do to a fuckup at CVS, I had a talk with the pharmacy Mgr. No results, had to call Corporate to get my problem corrected. Jacque in de Box, had to call Corporate after Mgmt. could not fix my raw, red, cold fucking Hamburger, Burned Fries, and a Milkshake the consistency of water, spoiled SHIT!!!! Corporate brought in Corp. Quality Assurance, the Regional Director and District Mgr. All equipment and food was torn apart, shook down, problems found everywhere, a Systemic and series of Process Failures.
Micky Fucking D's, only stopped in to use the restroom, got a soda, my wife a cold burger, cold fries. The bathroom had piss puddles everywhere, No TP, no hot water, shit on the walls literally shit. Snot, burgers on the wall, even the toilets/urinals were plugged up, gang grafitti everywhere, even cut into the mirror. Same in a 2nd Mickey D's, (I hate the fucking place, always have)....another Call to Corporate, and two stores are fucked, as several Mgr.'s in decadent DENIAL, were fired.
Do you see what I mean, I hope? I'm not asking you to agree, rather simply see what we see in our old eyes?
