I am curious to see where most of you stand since we are almost at halfway point. As much as the blazers have played like ass they have been a bit unlucky too. Hollinger still has them at good odds to get in. Agree or disagree?

We will still make the playoffs; even with Nate failing to get this team prepared and motivated. Believe it or not; we have talent to win more games than lose. We may be 8th seed without even trying.

i see us still backing into the 8th spot mainly because the teams we are competing against mostly have tougher schedules remaining. denver has been playing as sucky as we have without gallo, utah has a ton of road games etc

We'll make the playoffs. The only way we advance is if we make a move or if we get back to running a bit more and Batum decides to be the offensive player he can be.

I think we're out of it.

Failton is too mistake prone (missed shots, turnovers...) late in games, Crawful simply cannot deliver late in games (or maybe 1 in 5), Nic gets too tentative and that allows defenses to key in on LMA. We have, and will continue to lose too many winnable games late to make the playoffs. Nate's iso offense late in games is fine- so long as we have the player(s) to deliver, aka, Roy. But we don't. mean, when Dirk Diggler misses 5, yes 5, potential game winning shots from the final 15 seconds of the game thru OT and we can't capitalize, then it's time to look forward to vacation after the regular season.

I'm already looking forward to the draft.

With such a mediocre roster I would not be opposed to a lotto pick in this deep draft. Another 1st round bounce doesn't appeal much.

Hell why not trade everyone with a multi-year contract (Except for Aldridge and Batum) for expiring deals and picks?

When I look at this lineup there really isn't much to like. Outside of LMA there's no one who makes me jump up and down.

Then we should tank right now. Why have the 15th pick, when we can have 6 or 7th?

lol i assume you're not serious but it would take an EPIC tank job to move up to 6th. from 15-13 we would have to finish out something like 4-34 just to have any chance. too many crappy teams in the east.

i would rather be in the playoffs with the 15th pick than out with 11-13. might as well try.

I actually was. I never believe in tanking. That's a loser's mentality IMO. I would rather be an 8th seed than lottery bound.

matthews is the only one who has a true multi-year deal, and he's not worth his contract at this point so would be tough to dump for expiring. wallace and crawford have player options for 12/13 that they may opt out of if we blow things up.

otherwise it's all expiring and <$2 mil rookie deals.

Even if we do, we aren't going anywhere.

probably not, but we were very close to being 2-0 against the thunder. they're probably a better matchup for us than a more disciplined team like SA. 8th might actually be our best shot at winning a series, if we have one.

We'll make the playoffs. I think our backcourt will play better.

I figured a seventh or eighth seed at the beginning of the year, but then again I never thought Felton would play like a D-league reject. My feeling is that they'll probably still get in at the back of the order but only because Denver is dinged up and the T-wolves are too inconsistent to push them out of the way -- in terms of record, my prediction of 36 wins might be a little on the high side now, 32 seems a little more plausible.

Exactly. But they don't have to play a lot better. Just a little better and we win a lot more games.

You have to consider the possibility that they play exactly the same as they are now.

With this roster? Yes.

With this roster, and this coach? No.

Not if we continue playing like we've been playing. Remember that we are nearly .500 now, but that is after starting the season with a great record. We are only beating the worst teams in the NBA on the road (and barely at that).

We used to be able to hang our hat on good home court play, but now even that is slipping. The playoffs are pointless with Raymond Failton at PG.

Felton is having his worst season as a pro... in a contract year at age 27. What happens if he reverts to the mean (like most things do) and starts hitting the broadside of the barn when the 2nd half of the season arrives in a week?

it seems like there is a competition among some perpetually despondent posters to say the most negative thing possible following any loss. The woe-as-me premise of the OP is laughable IMO. Will the sun come up tomorrow?

even in a shortened/compressed season it's a marathon not a sprint
