Does Anyone Feel the Same?

That even if we go on to have a 10 game winning streak, it just wouldn't be that exciting? I've seen what this group can do without GO. They are a good team, but doesn't have the potential to be great. It's like knowing the future. No matter how well they do the rest of the way, they are going to be a one and done team. At most, a second round. GO gives this team that promise, that they can compete with anyone. With his pace of progression, and Roy and LaMarcus coming back to their level of play from last season, I felt we would be right tthere with the top teams by the end of the season.

That hope is gone. Gone.

Wow, are you serious? What if we won the championship? Would that merely be not as exciting because Greg didn't play? Greg hasn't proven ANYTHING in this league. He's not this known quantity that we can't win without. He's a very young player who wasn't even averaging a double double. Joel can rebound and play defense and Roy will play better without Oden, sad but true. We absolutely have enough talent to grab the 4th seed again and this time, we'll have the experience to win a round at the very least.

Ummm, the point is that he doesn't feel we can win the championship without GO.

If we see the Brandon of old, like we did at the end of tonight's game, this team is still worth rooting for. No one will be talking about us anymore as the up and coming team, expectations will lower, and maybe that could be a good thing to fly under the radar a bit. I still think this team can make the playoffs. We just need to stay above water until Nicolas and Travis get back, and then anything can happen.

Although Brandon has not played up to his capabilities, I'm still not betting against him considering what he's done the past 3 years. And he's going to get that control of the team back. We still have some very good players healthy, and hopefully Rudy can come back soon.

And my point is... what if we did? There seems to be a unit of Blazers fans who care about Oden more than even the team itself. A good statistical game for Oden is more important than a win. Conversely, a win in which Oden only shoots 4 times is considered a travesty. There is a unit of people who don't just want to see the Blazers win a title but want to see Oden win a title which is fair, but we can go on without him. It's not like Oden is an All Star or even CLOSE to being an All Star in this league.

More jumpers.

And one more "FUCK YOU" to add to those already posted tonight.

WTF is wrong with you man? Who the hell said anything about jumping ship? The guy that many of us thought held the key to our championship hopes just went down to a season ending injury - so most of the fanbase is in a state of shock. But come tomorrow morning, come the next game in NY, I'll still be watching and rooting for the rest of the guys. I'm rooting for Greg to get well now and get back in top shape for next year.

So to your continual jumper bullshit, I got this for you:

"FUCK" & "YOU"

What if I win the PowerBall? What if I'm Hughes Hefner (minus 60 years)? I'd be banging hot chicks and lighting my cigars with with $100 bills.

What's your point?

Blazers have a better chance of winning the title than any of us do at winning PowerBall. Probably only 8 teams (tops) have a better chance of winning a title this season than we do.

Exactly. While everyone was crying about the loss of Oden (understandbly so), Roy was playing like an MVP. Expect more of such performances from Roy this season.

This post 100% misses the point.

The reason people care about Oden is because of the long term impact they believe he could have on the success of the team... No Oden = less perceived opportunity for team success. It's seems clear to me...

Oden will STILL have long term impact on this team. He is only TWENTY ONE YEARS OLD! When he gets back, he'll have a good 14 years of good basketball in him.

Perhaps that "unit" of fans understand the big picture: we win big if, and only if, GO is to become close to the dominant player he was expected to become. Without the potential of GO, this team is the Heat.

I hear that.

But why do you just care about Oden's future?? Why are you focused on him only instead of being concerned with how the Blazers as a team do this season! It appears you are just a fan of Oden, not the Blazers as a whole.

(see what I did there...tricky, eh?)

Yep. That's how I'm feeling right now, not for just this season, but for seasons to come.

When we got the #1 pick in 2007, I was jumping for joy literally. Because I thought that drafting Oden to go along with Roy and Aldridge would undoubtedly be enough talent to one day win a championship, if not more. But now it looks like Oden is injury-prone and he cannot be relied on as a cornerstone of our team. Roy and Aldridge are still nice pieces, but without an Oden in there to be our defensive juggernaut and rebounding machine, I don't feel that a championship with this team is guaranteed, or even probable.

If Pritchard can work his magic and maybe get some major steals in trades (ala Telfair for Roy), we can possibly get enough talent to surround Roy and Aldridge to build towards a championship.

I will still root for this team, try to watch every game, and read every article, and I hope Oden can come back stronger than before. However, I will not pin my hopes on him anymore and as this team stands now with it's current players, I don't expect a championship this year or in the years to come.

Not really. Because in my post, unlike others, I never said we were done because Oden's out.

You're just jealous!

You never said we were done because of Oden, you said we were done a month ago when we lost to Denver. :devilwink:

I'm no match for the posting genius that is Kingspeed. I must eject before he "checkmates" me!!! Abort! Abort! (Oh shit, is aborting a form of jumping ship?)

You're right. I was wrong to give up on the team after that game. After watching us beat the Rockets (last year's playoff foe) without Oden, Outlaw, Batum, or Rudy tonight, I have a new faith and what we can accomplish. I will be attending the games in NY and Cleveland and can't wait to see them win before my eyes.

To you, maybe. I have a better chance of winning the PowerBall than the Blazers of winning a championship. And I don't even play the PowerBall.

That is not a statistically correct statement.:tsktsk:

I felt this team could contend for a championship last year if we landed any team in the starting round that wasn't the rockets. That was back when oden was getting into to foul trouble for breathing on the person he was guarding. Seeing him go down especially when it finally looked like he was back in shape and showing us the reason we drafted him #1 was about the only thing, save roy/aldrige getting injured, that would make this season seem a bit dissapointing. Now I say seem because with all of our other injuries right now this puts us in a bad place. Oden can still be that center we all hoped for and we can still have a great run without him, but without a dominating center then I dont' see us contending for a championship.
To sum up what seems like a rambling of ideas, with all the injuries this season I didn't think we could realistically contend with a championship so I settled down to root for second round in the playoffs and getting Oden a lot of time so that he could develop more. With him going down it just left me sick to my stomach because when were healthy next year we aren't going to have that dominating center with even more playoff experience like I was hoping for.
Does this mean i'll root for the blazers any less? Nope i'll root for them just as hard as I always have and hope the rest of the team best and that GO gets better. Its just a little disappointing is all i'm trying to say.

Well OK, but don't let it happen again. One must be statistically correct in a sports forum.:ghoti:

LOL, yeah sorry. I need some porn to watch. This fucking sucks.

I was thinking the same but then realized that I probably couldn't even get it up now so I'm going to go to sleep. I'll probably have nightmares about GO's knees. Poor guy. Unbelievable.

So, if you were wrong to give up on the team after the Denver loss...don't you think it might be fair to give everyone who has given up tonight due to the Oden injury the same leeway to come back to the team?

Checkmate!?!? j/k...just messin' with ya.

But, do you want to bet on that Cleveland game? If the Blazers lose you'd have to post "Oden is the only reason the Blazers are any good" over and over in every thread...

So why don't you just let people have their grief and get through this without your hypocritical, holier than thou bullshit. You're coming across as a sanctimonious asshole right now with your tired as hell "Another jumper" needling. This is why some people think you are an insufferable fool Eric.
