Let's face it, the Beavers are thin in mature talent, slow on defense and deeply inconsistent.

The Ducks, game in and game out, have showcased their talent and demonstrated a depth of talent at nearly every position. In addition, with all due respect for Mike Riley (a coach I greatly admire for his ability to coach up below than average talent), the Ducks coaching staff have proven adept at making excellent game decisions. The Ducks have truly lived up to their mantra of winning the day.

I think this game could be played 100 times and UO would win 100 times. Sorry, Beavers, this just ain't gonna be your year.

There's always that slim chance...

Honestly, I don't give the Beavs much of a shot. I know they will be playing all out and this game makes or breaks their entire season, but, we're too much O for their ugly D.

The only way I see them winning this is if every single break goes their way and we lose Thomas and James to injuries, and they play a near perfect game.

It's a rivalry game, and with injuries, you never know.

Cal gave us all we wanted, so there is no reason to think OSU won't as well

I watched OSU/USC a week ago, and I can tell you that they can give us a run for our money. I think they were looking past Stanford and that's why they got stomped. That team has talent, they're just not as talented as the Ducks. It's going to be a good game.

Sorry, but I can't believe the Beavers were looking past a top ten team, looking past being bowl eligible... for the UO game. And it's not like they played poorly. They had 5 turnovers. Take 4 of those away and it's a different game.

I'm interested in how the Ducks offensive line plays Stephen Paea. He's a monster and I'm sure is going to be someone Kelly game plans for. He will be good practice if we play Auburn in the National Championship as their DT Fairley has been dominating.

Yes they do. This is the type of post that will get posted on all Beaver websites if they somehow win.

Keep your head in check, imo.

Yup. I've been worried about a star-quality DT like Paea or Fairley. I've seen Fairley dominate all season long. That guy is a monster. He's easily an NFL pro-bowl type DT.

the answer is yes... I have seen crazy CRAZY things happen in Rivalry games. Last week against Stanford does not matter this saturday, nor our game against Arizona. This is a new one game season starting this saturday.

Exactly.

Sure they do. Oregon is one bad break (or strain, or pop, or whatever) from having a REAL problem at QB.

Hopefully that doesn't come to pass, of course, but the Ducks' lack of depth at the QB spot, coupled with the nature of rivalry games, means that the Beavers could get lucky and pull this out.

Oregon just needs to take care of business.

I think that could be said of most of the top teams. Where would Auburn be without Cam Newton?

I don't know their backup QB situation too well, but I would imagine Caudle and Trotter are better than the Ducks' true freshman.

In fact, according to this article, Trotter pushed Newton for the QB job this year:

Whether Auburn would be able to withstand a rivalry game while losing their starting QB to injury doesn't impact whether the Ducks could, though.

Against a team like OSU, all a Thomas-less Oregon team would need to do is hand off to James, Barner or Alston on every single play.

With those guys averaging 6 yards per carry and a combined 250 rushing yards a game, we'd be good... :pimp:

Anything can happen. Special teams and turnovers can completely change a game. I think the Ducks will come in focused and take care of business though.

That team struggles mightily when the opponent shuts down Newton. Their offense is predicated entirely on him being able to run or bootleg. Without Newton I think that team would be very average.

No, we dont have a chance. Sorry fellow Beaver fans, just being realistic. I'd be surprised if we lost by less than 20.

As a Beaver fan, i wasn't sure which team showed up on a given day. Dominating against Cal and USC but then come out flat against Washington and Washington State?
I'm torn between a 17 point victory or 24 point victory for the Ducks in Eugene. I'm going for 24.
