Jelena Dokic has reached her first WTA semi-final in seven years by beating Bojana Jovanovski of Serbia 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 in the Malaysian Open on Friday.

Former world No.4 Dokic drifted away from the WTA Tour from 2004 to 2008 before becoming the first wildcard to reach a grand slam quarter-final at the 2009 Australian Open in front of home fans.

The Croatia-born Dokic, ranked No.91, hit seven aces against Jovanovski, the Serbian teen seeded eighth.

Michaella Krajicek of the Netherlands made it to her first semi-final on tour in six years by accounting for Luxembourg qualifier Anne Kremer 6-2 6-3.
