A few blocks away from my neighborhood is a huge dealership area. There are three major dealerships: Toyota, Honda, and GMC. Then there's a little "Used Cars" dealership across the street from the Toyota, Honda and GMC dealerships. I'm going to go get my permit tomorrow (hopefully, if I pass the test) and my dad, brother, little sister, and I went to check out some cars today at the Honda and Toyota dealerships. We saw two Honda S2000s. I didn't take pictures, but in case you guys are wondering how those cars look, here's a good image:
One was the exact same color as this one ^^^; the other one was yellow. My dad said, "If you really want it, I can buy it for you." We recently sold our house and will have the money deposited into my dad's bank account tomorrow. I was feeling good. The salesperson came over and showed us the car inside and out. Suddenly, I said (without thinking), "Ooh.. It's a stickshift." The salesman asked, "Is that going to be a problem for you?" My dad replied, "He doesn't know how to drive stickshift." The guy said, "If I can teach you how to drive stickshift within 30 minutes, will you folks buy this car?" My dad said, "No, sorry." I got pissed! You see, my dad knows how to drive stickshift; the only reason he won't teach me how to drive stickshift is because he doesn't trust me. He made that clear a few weeks back when I tried to learn how to drive manual by my cousin, Ali.So, the sales man asked if I'd like to buy a Civic instead. I said, "Oh, no. I just want an S2000." He replied, "Yeah, I know how you feel. I bought an S2000 for my son when he got his license." I could tell he was just lying to make my dad want to buy me an S2000, but it didn't work.We went to the Toyota dealership next because my parents own nothing but Toyotas! A 1996 Toyota Camry, a 1998 Toyota Tacoma, 2002 Toyota Highlander, and a 2004 Toyota Camry. My dad asked me if I wanted the 2007 Toyota Camry Solara:
It's a good looking car, but after seeing the Honda S2000 and being sooooo close to purchasing it, I couldn't possibly divert my attention to the Solara. I said, "No, I want the S2000." My dad got mad and said, "If you want that car, you'll have to wait until you get your license. You're not going to drive a sportscar with a mere permit." So that was the end of that.I have to wait until I get a damn license before I get the damn Honda S2000. There's a Ford dealership close by in a city called Riverside. They sell Dodge Vipers there. My dad and I went to see those cars yesterday, but my dad wouldn't let me get a Viper because the crap costs about $86,000. He said he'd rather buy me a house than a Viper...So, just to get you fellow members of mine involved, I'd like to know, can you drive a stickshift? If yes, how long did it take you to learn to drive stickshift and is driving manual simple? If no, would you like to learn how and what is stopping you from learning (other than age)?
