Ducks to play Texas Longhorns in Valero Alamo Bowl

Oh boy, we get to kick Texas' ass. Fun!

That is true, and San Antonio will have a lot of Longhorn faithful. But a win there will be big for recruiting Texas talent.

And I'm not mad, mainly because Oregon deserved it. We lost at unranked Arizona! We don't deserve an At-large Berth. Oklahoma lost to ranked teams(and seeing them be rolled by Alabama is always satisfying). Can't argue against tOSU's resume of losing one game either. UCF is gonna be KILLED by Baylor though.

good matchup. Hopefully the boys can be up for it.

So Oregon finishes the season #10 and their reward is to play an unranked Texas team in their backyard... mmmkay. Your take is looking on the bright side from the fan's perspective, which I guess I have no choice but to adopt. Oregon already has a good thing going with Texas recruiting, and drubbing UT would only help.

That said, the Longhorns are a power running team. I'm somewhat surprised the alarm sirens haven't already gone off here warning us of the impending doom

I think a win will be pretty important for your next season. If the Ducks get smoked out of conference against a mediocre Texas team then next year even if the Ducks are undefeated detractors will say their a gimmick team like Fresno State.

They brought it on themselves with he loss to Arizona, but Oregon finished top 10 in BCS and not going to a BCS game is a shame. Both Oklahoma and Clemson finished below Oregon and they are going.

USC and Standford are the only Pac12 schools that play ranked teams in bowl games.

The fact that OU is going to a BCS bowl is pretty ridiculous.

Plus, Clemson and South Carolina are two of the most overrated schools in the nation.

Yep. Ticket sales and school proximity was a huge factor.

A little defensive?

If the Ducks want to be a top4 program next year winning games like this will help.

defensive no. I am tired of lame trolls though

Its a pretty crappy situation for the Ducks, they have very little to gain with a win and everything to lose with a loss.

It sounds like next year they will select the other at large teams based purely off the committee rank?

Texas is a recruiting ground for the Ducks, so beating the Longhorns on their home turf could be very beneficial.

This is Aliotti's redemption game too! Texas is a big O line smash mouth football team that can't throw very well. Much like AZ and Stanford. If Nick comes out there with a 3-4 and we get housed, Helfrich wont need to see much more from him to have Nick replaced with a coach that knows how to make adjustments!

Marcus is not coming back to go to another Alamo Bowl, we all know that! That said, beating Texas is huge for our recruiting pipe line and to secure Springs in his home town.
