Going with the theme of the 90's movie thread, what moves earlier in this decade were your favorites?

Gladiator. Training day. Man on fire.

In no order:

Lost in Translation
Vanilla Sky (hated by many, I really enjoyed it though)
Catch Me if You Can
Almost Famous
Eternal Sunshine
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Mystic River
Garden State
Memento

Edit:

Almost forgot-

High Fidelity

Eurotrip was balls. Highly disappointing!

Lost In Translation was slow going but a smart comedy. Love this movie.

Another smart comedy I liked is 'Sideways' with Paul Giamatti. "I am NOT drinking any fucking Merlot!"

The Cast at the 2:04 mark says it all

Since I have toddlers and I'm forced to watch a stupid amount of kids films, I'd also add Ratatouille and Up. Those two and WALL-E are the only three kids films from this decade I can stand to watch as repeatedly as the kids demand.

I didn't include Where the Wild Things Are in my prior post because I don't really think of it as a kid's film, although kids like it. It's really more of an honest window for adults to see how terrifying and weird and other-worldly being a kid can be. It's amazing how easy it is to forget.

"The Lives of Others" or "Das Leben Der Anderen". The best German movie since "Das Boot".

i was talking to someone about this movie tonight. i have yet to see it but the only people who say good things about it seem to be the critics and random people on sites like this one. no one i know personally, who has seen the movie, has anything good to say about it.

ELIZABETHTOWN! (2005)

Based on a story of a Nike shoe designer who lost the company a billion dollars and just when he received the news his father died. He has an interesting trip back to Kentucky to bring his father home.

Well clearly you aren't hanging with the right class of people! :)
