The Iowa Energy announced the acquisition of two players today via trades made just hours before the NBA D-League trade deadline.
The league-leading Energy acquired Moses Ehambe from the Austin Toros in exchange for guard Kyle Weaver. A 6'6" guard out of Oral Roberts University, Ehambe is averaging 10.2 points per game with Austin since his return from Spain early this year. Ehambe is a career 44.1% shooter from 3-point range during his three seasons in the D-League, which included two seasons with the Tulsa 66ers. The sharp-shooter made a D-League high nine 3-pointers in a game vs. Texas on March 2nd, and has made 14 of his last 16 3-point attempts.
In a separate trade, the Energy sent a 3rd round pick in the 2011 NBA D-League Draft to the Bakersfield Jam for guard Kenny Taylor. Taylor, a University of Texas alumni, is averaging 8.3 points per game on the season, and is shooting 37.2% from 3-point range.
The 3rd round pick sent to Bakersfield for Taylor was originally obtained by Iowa from the Jam in a pre-season trade.
Both players are expected to be in uniform for the Energy during Sunday's Faith & Family Night in Des Moines. That game features a 4pm start vs. Idaho and includes a post-game concert with Aaron Shust.
The Energy have the league's best record at 30-10 and have been in 1st place in their division for 140 consecutive games heading into tonight's game at Maine.
